Nah dude. If you want to match the awesomeness of a fresh MBP, you need a NEW 40". Not something that's been in BestBuy for two years. A high end TV is about 2 grand. This ain't no Vizio from Wally World.

LOL So you are talking about how good it looks? LOL

Serious question, I see so many posts here related to games. I can't believe people are spending 2k+ on machines to play games on. Isn't that what the PS3\XBOX is for, connected to a nice big 40" screen?

Actually, another way to answer this: why would you spend $2500 on a computer that _couldn't_ play games? Someone who buys this thing will be doing everything on it, including games.

I use my MBP for casual gaming - I do also leave the hardcore battles for PS3, however since I'm in the military and am frequently on the road, I like the portable fun it provides. Sure it's not nearly as powerful as a desktop which can crank out insane framerates, but it was also not the primary reason I bought a MacBook to begin with.

I fail to understand the OP's question. If i want to play a game on my computer, why are people saying that I *should* buy a PS3/360?

Not to mention the 6 year old hardware in both of those is pathetic compared to the hardware in even a 2 year old computer. (besides maybe the PS3's cell CPU)

I used to be a pc but got tired of the updates every 2-3 weeks almost, well it felt like it.

I have a ipad and a iphone 4, or and a new style apple tv so it is enevitable i am being drawn to a mac.

Yes, i will play games, no i wont do fancy video/photo editing ( i get the impression thats all some people think you use a mac for?)

I have just ordered a high end macbook 15", because i love the style, the operating system looks great and it's going ios by the looks of the future (i can hear all you pureists tutting!). i intend on keeping it for 2-3 years and no doubt it wont play all the fancy games a pc will it should be good enough for what i want out of it and steam will get better for the mac, oh and the 1gb grapics card is not a option in the cheaper version........:):apple:

Nicely said...Just picked up a new 2.3 GHz i7 Quad Core 15' Hi-res non-glare and MBP today and am simply loving it. Can't wait until I put the OCZ Vertex 3 SSD in it.

Frankly I don't give a monkey's. Why do people drive flash cars, own prada bags, wear Nike shoes? Just let them be. Life's too short, let all enjoy! We are all different and each to their own ( and I'm not a hippy by he way).

Why not play games on a Mac? It's better spending money on a higher end system than buying another PC just to play games on. The mac is more than capable of games. Just because it's not known as a gaming system doesn't mean it can't do it.

This is in the main room. But I'm about to ship out to basic so it's all going in storage.

Good to see you getting some appropriate practice in then.

Uh, ya picture quality is kind of big deal in an HDTV. Lmfao you're such a tool.

No I'm talking about how it looks on the outside. Because most HDTV $999 or more look great. You are dumb for not understanding what I meant. Also who needs 1080p on a 15 to 17in screen? I'll take the 1080p plasma/LCD or LED. If I thought the way you think I was thinking I would not have a 100in screen.

I knew exactly what you meant which is exactly why you're a tool.

Why are you even here if you don't like classy looking laptops? You seem like the type of tool that stands in line at Wal-mart on Black Friday for a $300 laptop because it's cheap. Gtfo.

LOL I'm on a MacBook Pro right now. LOL Just because I told dude that said you can't get a nice TV and 360 or PS3 for less than a MBP that you could that means I don't like classy things. **** I spend a ton on classy items. Will be spending even more when I graduate college and ship out to the military.

It's cheaper to buy one computer that can meet all of your computer needs in addition to your gaming needs, than a console, TV, and a computer. Plus, you can't play the good MMO or RTS games on consoles.... oh, and you can't generally carry your TV & console around with you.

I was never a gamer on a PC, but since I sold my 360 and had bought 2k11 on steam, I am happy that now I can play it! It wouldn't play on my older MBP.

Of course not. That's why I have a MBP, gaming PC and all the consoles. They all serve a purpose. But I agree with what you are saying.

My PC gets more gaming time than my Xbox and PS3 combined. I don't really have the desire to maintain multiple PCs, so my one PC needs to do it all.... granted I don't do any hardcore gaming on the PC. Mostly MMO & RTS.

Some of us just prefer PC/Mac gaming, myself included. Never did get controllers :D

This^! We play RTS PC games. I own a PS3 and have never bought a game. It the best blu-ray player we own (we have 4).

Some of us don't like or can't play fps or side scrollers so consoles are out. Give me a mouse and a powerful gaming PC over a console any day.

Cheers,

I have always preferred gaming on a PC eventhough I have an Xbox. Preference aside, some games like RTS games work better or exclusively on a PC.

I know this is an old topic but games looks really great on Macs especially the ability to see high detail. I messed around with a lot of computers and the quality of the screen is big! I might have an older model but when it comes to gaming being able to see a high level of detail and field perception comes in handy.

Back when I was dual platform then I preferred PC games on a laptop because I would use the TV to watch Shows while I play. But I've pretty much outgrown gaming and if anything I prefer casual games on the iPad.

(Edit: ugh. Got suckered into an old topic.... Oh well)

I think you might have missed his joke. You stated you had a 40' screen. That means you have a 40 foot screen. I think you meant a 40" screen. But who knows, maybe you DO have a 40' screen, in which case I would like to reserve my seat for the next Super Bowl

My neck would get sore pretty quickly :D
