It's 3 weeks and I find my brand new $2500 MacBook Pro to be a glorified web surfer, which has totally frustrated my business side with no output and no $ incoming

People at AppleCare are nice, but they keep telling me to go watch the videos, on how to RELEARN 22 years of XLS and DOCX - if I had all this extra free time I would play golf, go on wine tours, learn a new language like Spanish - or perhaps a NEW software like a Graphics programme.

MS Office basic steps in PC now become 3 or 4 extra steps in MAC

I have lost access to 22 years of pertinent Client info in 4 ACT dbases - all because ACT and MAC are not friends! Furthermore - there aren't any suggestions that even come close to the functionality of ACT 6 ....

I had VMware Player on my PC and thought it would be fine to upload VMware Fusion for MAC to run those Windows apps from XP vs Win7
.... except ....
Player PC & Fusion MAC do not play together either!!!

My folders are there, but inaccessible ... I do another search - thus the "glorified web surfer" because that's all I'm doing ... trying to find out how to do ... and not getting anything done! To discover on a site - VM Player and VM Fusion are incompatible! I'm grateful, that I downloaded the trial version and didn't pay for it upfront .... but that adds ANOTHER problem to my already OVERFLOWING plate of problems ... I am losing my mind !!

To make matters worse, Google decides to change .coms to indicate country extensions and $rew$ up blog functions all around the world!

Is it a conspiracy  outside of returning and demanding my money back does anyone have any advice?

If these apps are critical for you, didn't you realise within 14 days that it wasn't working out for you? You could have returned the Mac within that time frame with no questions asked.

I'd hurry and see if Apple will bend the rules for you since it will be obvious that you tried to resolve the issues through your support calls.

My biggest thing why I wont be going back to windows are two things.

One is it's not just design, but the feel and shaping of the product. Using all aluminum and glass trackpad is worth it. It's why Apple's been able to leverage premium price and window's laptops have been going downhill. Some of the windows manufactures are starting to get that with the ultrabooks, but still manages to mess up some of the design/function elements and manages to make them look tacky.

Second is relying on third party to support hardware.. if you look on every window laptop out there, there's all these third party brands for sound, trackpad, bluetooth, etc (it's not always the case), but having all those icons managed from other companies are really annoying especially if you decide to reinstall or swap a different hard drive. The basic hardware functions should be managed by windows so that there's a better support and usability. I know win7 made it little better, but it's not 100%.

*That said, I've never liked any of the windows trackpad out there.

I like diversity in my technology but I do need a new laptop- and the MacBook Pro appears to be the cutting edge.

From its design to its software, it's all around perfectly manicured. The only thing stopping me from buying one is that it isn't Windows.

I agree and felt the same way. I was worried about spending $2500 on my MBP, but once I purchased it, I never looked back. I have Windows 7 installed via Boot Camp and everything runs smoothly. Once you go Mac, you don't go back.:D

I know what you mean, Macs are great. My nex purchase will be a top of the range MBP 17" which I will use for years.

I can't justify buying a Windows PC ever again now :D
