so i work for apple and i recently won an overtime contest. the prize? an apple watch. i expected to receive the sport edition, but alas, i received the 38 mm stainless steel case edition with the classic buckle in black. this model retails for $650, and i've listed it for like $500 on craigslist with no hits, other than those dudes wanting me to send it to their grandma in nigeria. has the interest in the apple watch dwindled that much in such a short time period?

Well on most comparison websites here most I can get for my stainless steel 42mm is £200

The current AW is over a year old. One-year-old iPhones do not retain 77% of their original value either so you're pricing it too high. Additionally, Best Buy has been discounting selected SS models by $200 brand new so why should people pay more to buy from you instead of brand new from a known retailer?

wow, i didn't realize best buy had that kind of price drop. i'm going to drop it to 450, 400 at the lowest, and hopefully someone bites. i need a vacation!

They're probably all paranoid about new models being introduced on Monday.

Pff. Whatever. See if yours gets sold on Tuesday.

JUst because Apple sets a price does not mean that is near what people want to pay and like stated, it's 15 month old tech ad not a huge selling device. Some are buying used and 42mm Sport models in the 200-300 range. The 38mm model is also a smaller market. It's odd that someone who works for Apple is unaware of their market.

I'm interested, is the thread starter wanting to cash out the watch to pay for the expenses of an actually holiday away, or is the thread starter wanting to pay for time off work because they do not receive paid leave/holidays/vacations from their employer?

Dude seriously What the ****? You were complaining on the other thread that the Apple watch should be sold at $195.00 new and you're interested in this guy's apple watch for $400?

I'm interested in the scenario with the thread starter's vacation situation whether it is self funded or paid by the employer. Apple watch should start at $195. The thread starter has a stainless steel version. Talk about some aggression over an unrelated question.

That's something a bit personal to be interested in isn't it?

Sorry for the confusion. That's good you get vacation hours and benefits. (Meanwhile I was browsing the minimum leave around the world. Some countries have it good, some surprisingly do not. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_minimum_annual_leave_by_country )
Good luck selling it. If you want to move the watch fast, might be worth going close to half its retail value plus free shipping. Make sure you insure it when sending. I've heard so many scam stories.

if best buy are currently selling this specific model for $450, i'm hoping i can get $400 for it. if you get it from best buy you still have to add tax on, so it would be still be a decent saving

I don't view asking about someone's general workplace holiday arrangements as personal. Maybe if I asked what their annual income was, or what their daily living arrangements were, these might be personal questions. But the responder can choose to answer or politely decline, the responder tells me what is or isn't personal or crosses the line. I come from a position that the more we discuss, the more we learn about each other. :)

Could you potentially sell the watch part and the band separately? Would that get you a large price in the end?

There's a separate marketplace here, although you have to meet criteria to be able to gain access. That being said, it is against the rules here to sell in places other than the marketplace. I'd edit your post before it gets deleted/closed.

thanks for the tip! will do so now. do you know what the criteria is?

All the OP is asking is why his AW isn't selling. Nothing more than that and it's not in danger of being deleted/closed, not even his sarcasm as indicated by "haha."
