Why did Apple choose to not display the capacity on the back of the iPhone 4?

It's now too easy to change out the back and screw people with lower capacity iPhones this way.

With that I mind someone could now just tell someone that it is a 32GB model right. I mean, if the person buying the phone doesn't research a product that their going to spend their money on it almost fall on them that they got scammed. I 100% disagree with crime but people need to educate themselves. As much info that is available quickly nowadays, ya know. I don't know why apple decided to tale it off. I would assume so that the replacement parts for refurbs would be cheaper as there is no need to carry two different backs.

The more interchangeable parts Apple can use, the cheaper the production costs.

Cheaper production costs = lower iPhone 4 price point = more sales = more profits for shareholders.

This is true J, but apple will not lower the price of the phone. Lower cost to produce the iPhone = more profit for share holders.

it forces people to go to settings> general> about to look instead of relying on the back.

When you have a 32 gb and your wife has a 16 gb and there both naked its hard to tell which is which.

Because you can't simply press the Sleep/Wake button and see instantly which phone it is based on the lock screen??? Or do you and your wife have the same lock screen as well?

Hitting the home button to reveal the lock screen (which should have a different wallpaper between the two of you) is faster than flipping it over to check the capacity.

They did it just to keep ppl guessing and filling up this forum with threads like this.

I kind of like it without the stamp stating what size it is.

Now they need to make a modular iPhone with different color plates so when you get bored of one color you can switch.
