just curious why Apple would have space grey drop it in favor of matte black and jet black then come back out with space grey. I like both colors I was just curious as to why they would do that.
The conspiracy theorist in me says that black (both matte and jet) were introduced to goose sales of the 7/7+ because Apple was concerned they wouldn't sell enough units. This would be due to the fact that the 7/7+ was pretty much a 6ss/6ss+ on the outside. The conspiracy theorist in me says: The design is more likely to scuff, break, etc. which would entice people to upgrade in the future in addition to new features (glass back will shatter, stainless steel scratches easily). I kept my 6+ in pristine condition for the 3 years I have had it minus the scratches it got in its case from trapped dust. I kept it for this long because it looks almost brand new.
Why cant a phone with a glass back be black? The galaxy s8 was and still wireless chargedYou can’t use wireless charging on a matte black phone since it’s metal.
Well it isn't matte black. I don't know how you get glass to appear matte. The galaxy s8 back looks pretty much like the space grey back of the iPhone XWhy cant a phone with a glass back be black? The galaxy s8 was and still wireless charged
You can frost it through sandblasting or laser etching.Well it isn't matte black. I don't know how you get glass to appear matte. The galaxy s8 back looks pretty much like the space grey back of the iPhone X
Yeah I actually like the grey color on the x a lot better then the 6sThe correct answer is so that they can introduce both matte and jet black on the Xs next year to boost sales like they did on the 7. But the correct question is how can they call so many different colors space gray? My X doesn't look anything like my MBP or my iPhone 6. If Apple is going to make up stupid names for their colors, why not actually change the name when the color is actually different? "Meteorite gray" vs. "Space gray".
I guess. I meant it literally when I said I didn't know how you'd do matte on glass. I guess frosted glass is sorta like a matte finish. You can frost it through sandblasting or laser etching.
But why bother? It looks great in space greyYou can frost it through sandblasting or laser etching.
I like space grey and apparently millions others do as well.
But why bother? It looks great in space grey
I never said I wanted a matte finish. I was answering someone's question regarding how it would be accomplished. But why bother? It looks great in space grey
I do to was just wondering. Now the old space grey I really didn’t like. The matte black was a lot better imo. Now I do like the new one better then both cause it’s more of a charcoal grey.I like space grey and apparently millions others do as well.
I just meant black in general. How can you do matte black on a glass back?
It's a design choice, but I guess there is something to do with the stainless steel band.I just meant black in general.
