sure xbox has problems rrod, but not sure how many compaines would replace all rrod consoles and give 1 month free for make up. Sure they could of made an error less product but atleast they take responsibilty.
Windows is a whole other story lol.

PLus i got my xbox on ebay, 150, for the pro version. thats 50% of, got rrod 1 month later they replaced it and got no problems after. So i'm happy, though i worry about leaving it run for abit.

I got the 360 to play uno :p Nah, I've had a 360 in the past and I regretted selling it. Now I'm glad I have it back. I love the online aspect and the arcade

there is a new hardware version called the jasper.

I have the orignal version purchased on launch day, died this past week, I have an elite which was the second generation of hardware and just purchased 2 jasper (arcade versions) units last night.

I moved the hard drives to the new machines. yes the new machines are quiter than the previous two versions and now less noisy then the PS3. But not nearly as quiet as my pc.

The new jasper units have 256mb on the monther board so you can play on Live but your downloaded content is still limited.

I got mine about six months after launch to play Oblivion :D and so far, it's going strong. My brother got his a week later and it died on Boxing Day but he has another already... The old one had RROD but he said that if he kept switching it on and off, it would work perhaps once out of every five tries (leaving ten mins or so in between)

I hope I haven't tempted fate so I go downstairs now and put in Fable 2 to be greeted by the RROD!

Aren't the new 360's quieter than the early models? I never liked the noise of the early (what we currently have) 360, couldn't play that thing at night after work since it meant turning the volume up and waking up the house.

The fans don't run as high (or for as long at the faster speeds) than the older units (that's my personal view), but the DVD drive is still just as noisy, so it really doesn't make much difference, they do however produce less heat.

Just purchased one yesterday primarily for Netflix and Windows Media Center. The new interface is excellent.

The WMC streaming is fantastic (using an 802.11n AirPort Extreme and Express).

I'm probally going to dump both my Apple TV and PS3 on eBay.

My brother reports that you can cut the noise down further by installing games to the hard drive. I haven't tried that myself so can't say whether it's a significant difference.

Well obviously, as the disc drive isn't actually spinning whilst you're playing :p But yeah, it's alot quieter on HD, just need a big hard drive that's all, I use a 20gb one, so one game at a time for me :p

I hate windows as much as the originator of this thread. But I will say that besides windows, microsoft makes some good products... 2 being the 360 and the ford car sync (whatever it's called). Microsoft should just get out of the computer game lol.

I bought my 360 because a friend of mine (a marine) was coming back from over seas for leave and i figured after 2 years he would want to play some video games. That was a good month...

Two things put me off buying a 360: my severe dislike of the buggy, space-wasting Windows, and all of the reports of errors with the console.

However, over the last year I really got into console gaming (bought a PS3, PS2 and a Wii), and thought that I may as well get the 360 to fill the void. I don't have it connected via HDMI cables or anything as it's in my room, hooked up to only a standard definition tv (my PS3 is the one hooked up to the HDTV in the living room otherwise my Bluray collection is worthless :p) so I can't comment on the graphics too much (they still look rather amazing though), but the games I have so far (Fallout 3 and the two Gears of War games) have been consistently enjoyable, moreso than my PS3 games (I disagree with people that say MGS4 is one of the best games ever made, it's a bloated mess with almost no gameplay in comparison to the movie-length cutscenes).

I got my 360 on November 19 - the same day that the New Xbox Experience was released (although I didn't know this, and was totally surprised when it updated). I only used the old software for a couple hours and I wasn't very impressed, but the NXE just blew me away.

Overall, I still prefer my PS3, mainly for the Bluray playback and the fact it is the console I have some of my favourite games on (mainly GTA IV, COD4 and Guitar Hero World Tour) although it does have some I don't like (MGS4...); another thing I like is how I can copy videos to my hard drive, as opposed to only being able to copy music to the 360. But this is a very, very slight difference; even if the PS3 is still my favourite, the 360 is only just behind.
