I joined right after the introduction of the iMac G4...everyone was saying "As expected, Apple released..." whereas I had no idea. I googled Mac news, and MR was near the top of the list- and I signed up immediately.

Go on then.

I think I joined, back in March '04, because I had a question about burning CDs or something. I didn't lurk for long, I just registered with the first username that sprung to mind, and asked the question. Little did I think I'd be checking the site anymore after that. If I thought I'd be around for the community atmosphere (as I am now, basically), I'd have picked something more meaningful than dops7107, which I just read off my computer case at work

Oddly enough I bought my Mac Mini before looking at any sites like this. Good job it wasn't a mistake!

I dropped by in fall of 2002...friend recommended it so I checked the front page for a few days then signed up for the forums....I've been hanging around since then, never really lurked at all, when I'm not posting, I'm not visiting the boards.:D

Because of the Buying tips and advice forum. :D I posted a few times in there and got some great advice. :) Thanks everyone..

i had just reintroduced the mac into my life with a couple of machines in 1999, so when i found this site in 2000, i joined

it was fun to try and predict what apple inc was up to having just come out with the ibook and g4 powermac

Because of the people who were posting at the time, many of which sadly no longer post. :(

I had a Mac for almost a year before joining MR. The more time I spent on my Mac, the more "addicted" I got. I came across the forums after one of my Mac-user friends (who happens to be a Demi-god) was talking about it.

but igav, i am still here!!

and you and maybe only three other people currently active know my real identity ;)

Whenever I googled for help with my iBook, it took me to macrumors forums.

It took me a few weeks to find out there was a part of the site that wasn't a forum.

My first post was in the Tiger night thread. Someone had asked about who won a PowerBook and I posted that I had.
It was deleted as spam. (I think.. I can't find that post anymore, haha)

and I know what you're thinking.. Kt.. SPAMMER? NO WAY!

So, uh.
yeah.
Google told me to join.

and I've stayed because frankly, MR is teh roxxorz.
It's fun, y'all are fun, I've met some REALLY cool people here.

you have embraced my nerdiness and fostered it!

Similar to KT, I kept googling for help with stuff and this site kept popping up. I hung around for a full year here and there whenever an apple event was coming around. I think I finally had to register so I could pose a specific question. I still rely on MR for both uses, but poke fun at everything in between :D

Because I had rather blindly purchased a PB and had no idea what I was doing w/ a Mac. I still don't really...

Same here, I convinced my 'rents to get me one for college after reading ArsTechnica's review of 10.1

My next post: "Confessions of A Eye Candy Whore" ;)

I lurked for a long time. It seemed like a safe place with good people who weren't afraid to disagree with one another. And it was helpful to me back in my ITing days.

I made my first post after emw started a thread about how Earth's "bigger cousin" had been detected. Being someone who has more or less devoted his life to poetry, I couldn't not respond acerbically to such a use of metaphor.

Now I post in instances where I feel like I can't keep my "mouth shut." Or when a thread, like this, asks for confessions from my cyber-identity.

In this thread? :D Wait, that was too easy.

I joined with a big font problem when I got my Dual G5 at work.

I knew very little about Macs back then (still don't) and it was and still is a huge learning curve. I had big problems with Quark too, and one software update broke my connection with our department's router, which caused me huge headaches and still remains a mystery today.

MR is brilliant for many things. Not least huge threads on Cricket, bizarrely enough.
