My friend told me Id get chicks if I joined... a couple of years later, Im still waiting...

I joined back in 8-28-2001 during school under the username MacLuver23 - god what a horrible username, what was I thinking?! Well anyway after logging into so many different machines, school, home, friends houses, the account stopped working, I don't think I was banned or anything (although I was quite the annoying fellow now that I read some posts, jeez someone should have told me to shut my yap).

Eventually I decided to cut my losses and my 49 posts and start a new life as LimeiBook86. Actually I'm quite happy I did, that old username was horrible (did I say that already?), and it was actually linked to my old (now non-existent) AOL e-mail address if I remember correctly.

Funny thing is that I registered here during school to spend time away from doing my work. Ironically now I hardly spend time on the forums because I'm so busy doing my work. ;)

I love this place, it's a great place to talk about anything Mac related, everyone seems to be friendly and we all have one thing in common. We like Macs. This is a great place with great friends, I hope it'll never go away :D

I originally signed up in march 2003 to argue about the iraq war! But I soon abandoned the political forums and came to love the rest of the site. :)

Lurked for sometime before signing up. Originally, IIRC, I was searching for help and ended up here. Have continued to enjoy the mix of posters and the different topics/subjects that they creatively engage in.

I first started reading MR occasionally when the first iWalk hoax appeared, it was fun to browse through the discussions now and then to laugh at you all. I'm not sure how I got sucked in, but can see that it was shortly after I started buying Macs again (only a few years after swearing never to touch one of those pieces of worthless junk ever again).

I joined because I'd just bought a new iBook G4 and was pretty in love. I didn't post for about a year though because I was scared to death of edesignuk.

I got over that when Lacero joined.

I began to do some browsing here in April and then joined in May. My reasons were twofold: I expect to buy new items and the wide range of comments from those in the know cannot be matched elsewhere, and there were the posts of a particular member that consistently impressed and amused me. Joining MR has proven to be a smart choice.

I was never scared of e, maybe because I came around before he got on his Mod-mini power trip (he seems to have calmed down now that he's a full mod)...and because I regularly confused him with ensignparis, whose name was vaguely similar. I'm not sure I was around when edesign was known as verbose101...anyone know when he got his name changed...maybe in the 9 months before I showed up...?

Found by Google and signed up at the first visit to ask about rotating QT movies. IIRC no-one was able to help in that first thread but the answer came about a year later.

That's why a came but I stayed 'cause I liked hearing viewpoints that I'd never considered before in the community pages.

I started paying attention to apple and apple rumors when the powermac G5 was released and the Va Tech supercomputer was assembled. I had my eye on a G4 imac at first, and lurked for about 6 months; finally posting some questions about it in Dec of 2003 when I was about to buy a 15" PB. I chickened out and didn't get an ibook until this year.

It was a bleak November morning. I was at work looking for some Final Cut help, stupid boss wasn't answer his phone, and I stumbled across this place. When I found it again later that day, I joined. HOORAY!

I was looking for information regarding the ever-elusive PowerBook G5... just kinda stuck around after that... kept posting, and now I feel like part of the group.

Awww... he's a big pussycat. :)

I can think of other more intimidating and downright hostile individuals who have fortunately moved elsewhere.

Yeah. He don't post much anymore. But he did start the totally OSSUM pics thread! even though it got off to a rocky start.
When I was 5, I spelled 'awesome' as 'ossum', to describe bigfoot monster trucks. Just a little tidbit from my corrupted childhood.
Here's to the Crazy Ones

I entered the Mac world without knowing a damn thing about it, and stumbled upon this website when searching for tips. I've belonged to many forums before and swore them all off because they were always full of extremely opinionated egotistical whackos who just want to make themselves feel superior to others...i.e. A noob posts a question and is ridiculed for being inexperienced. These forums were also very clique-ish so I mainly lurked, not posting but reading what others have posted. This website was different. I've asked many a dumb question and have not gotten ridiculed for being a noob. Not to mention, this site is full of intelligent, creative and funny people with such interesting personalities it's hard not to get hooked;)

A friend had just bought an iMac and so I took a look first at the Apple site to see what this thing was, then, my curiosity pricked, did a Google so that I could find out more about the mysterious new world she had just entered. A long-time PC/Windows user, I think I was hoping to find a bunch of reasons why she'd just made a huge mistake. Well, the joke was on me! I found several Mac-related sites, including Macrumors. Read the front page and then discovered the forums. I read some of the posts and promptly added the site to my "favorites" list. Next day I was back again, reading more posts and becoming more and more intrigued....

After spending time in the local Apple store and spending some time actually hands-on with the OS, I was beginning to lean in the direction of getting myself a Mac, too, especially as I had been having some problems with my PC. I was still "on the brink" when I finally registered (hence the user name). Then the announcement came about the new Rev C iMac and suddenly I wasn't on the brink any more -- I knew that I wanted a Rev B iMac and so that was that and I hied off to the Apple store, coming home with my brand-new gleaming white iMac... One of the first things I did online after getting the machine set up was to post on MacRumors!

That was back in mid-October and here I am, in for the long haul. I've learned so much from these forums and have enjoyed them as a reader and as an active participant.

I know. :D

He's actually probably the real reason I joined. I loved the way he treated newbies, especially using the pics. :D

As for any power trips, I have to disagree. Apart from posting a little bit less, he seems like the same ol' funny-as edesignuk that we all know and love. :)

I joined because I don't know squat about computers, and have one.

I'm a freelance illustrator/designer, and was eventually dragged kicking & screaming into the digital age & forced to buy a computer. I trained on Macs, did my first couple of years in the field on a PC, then returned to Macs to freelance.

I like my machine, but don't have the type of mind that handles computer info very well (in fact terribly) so I find the kind & helpful advice of people on these forums life saving at times. And often their patience!!

Alright, the Ipod nutters can get a bit fierce and anal, but their a good bunch on here on the whole.

I now pop in fairly often to have a sosey around the community forum & stick my nose in where it seems reasonable....
