My aunt wouldn't let me install AIM on her PC, so I saved up and bought a used iMac G3 for $250 (this was a while ago). I chose a Mac because I remembered using them a lot in elementary school.

I think I was maybe in 8th grade... I went over to a friends house to stay the night, and he was playing around on his iBook G3 which was super new at the time. It just looked like the absolute coolest computer I'd ever seen, but what really sold me on it was not just the aesthetics but when he opened textedit, he typed something and then he used the 'text-to-speech' function and it blew my mind, it was infinitely better than what windows at out at the time. I knew that I HAD to have one of those computers, so I nagged my parents forever and ever and actually ended up getting a mac for christmas that year. :)

I went from using a Compaq Presario with like 233 mhz, 32 mb ram, and a 4gb HD to a Titanium Powerbook 1.0ghz, 512 mb ram, and 80 gb HD. It was amazing! I still have it and poke around on it sometimes.

I switched when I watched one of the apple videos showing off iLife 06 and all the rest of what Apple's doing. That's when I got my G5 with 10.4 and I'm an Apple fan for life

Everything started when I wanted support for my iPod. I went into Apple.com and then for a strange reason I went into the Store section and it was love at first sight with a MacBook. One year later I got one, which got stolen 5 month's after.

The Atari ST I used had color before the Macs did, had a mouse, a GUI, and a 68000 CPU. So by the time that line had run it's course the System 7 Macs were a natural.
I'd bought a used Mac Plus but went for the color LC 475 shortly thereafter.
I've used Windows too, but it didn't come first.
