I guess part of the issues is I expect a high degree of quality (i.e. perfection) on anything Apple makes and have a low tolerance for issues of any kind. If I bought a $800 Dell, I'd expect issues but for a $2500 laptop, it sucks to see lag when evoking Mission Control sometimes. They should have that nailed by now but overall, I'm very happy with the laptop.
"Issues of any kind" is a problem when reading internet comments because someone will
always find an issue of some sort. We had a thread on these forums a few weeks back where someone exchanged his rMBP five or six times, and one of the times was due to the screen being "too orange" if I remember correctly. Warm and cool tones on a monitor can be hard to get right, but let's face it: most people probably wouldn't notice or would just allow themselves to adjust to it. Some people home in on the tiniest things, and when you read a bunch of threads from different people with different obsessive criticisms then it sounds like you have something terrible on your hands. These are details that you probably would not have noticed or been bothered by before.
This is one of those areas where it's all about you. Are
you happy? You say you are, and therefore you're not a sucker. You bought something and presumably made an informed decision, and it was a good purchase. It is meeting your needs and expectations, and you enjoy using it.
On the other hand you have people like
thejadedmonkey who seem content to use a $500 laptop from Dell. There's nothing wrong with that, and if they don't appreciate the aesthetics, the feel, and the performance (not benchmark-based) of the MacBook Pro, then it's certainly a waste for them to spend the extra on it. If you appreciate the system and would feel frustrated or less happy with that $500 Dell, though, then the extra cost is worth it. It's all about you.
The final thing worth mentioning is that comments on the internet are biased. There's a saying in business: "if you do a good job then your customer will tell his friends; if you do a poor job then your customer will tell the entire world." People come on to these forums and other sites largely because they're upset and want to vent. We still get the euphoric, excited posts from people who love the products that they purchased, but they're far outnumbered.
The big point to focus on is yourself. It was your money, and if you're happy, then everyone else's opinion be damned, be happy!
