For such a high price tag , earphones should be of top quality.
Also a descent remote control with nice display screen should be added ...

I just got the new 'Earpods' from the Apple Store and let me tell you that they are a lot better than the old Apple earphones.

Bass is more punchy and both mids and highs are more lively now. And you know what?...they don't fall from my ears that easy anymore.

that would cut into their profit margins...so not gonna happen.

Well I wont be an AAPL client any more. My next phone will be a note 2.
Down turn is coming...
Stop being an alarmist and just buy the Skullcandies, they're like friggin $13 at Walmart... If headphone quality is REALLY a deal breaker for you, then I have but one question... Who the hell gave you an iPhone??? Don't lie bro, you didn't pay for it!!!! :p

They may be usable but the quality sucks big time,

Anybody that feels these are 'okay' quality, go out and grab any another pair of headphones - the difference is striking, these sound tinny and awful. But hey, they're free and anyone serious about audio on their device should own a decent pair of headphones.

Honestly I'm happy with the earphones they provide. Most people prefer to select their own earphones based on style, color and quality. So we buy them separately anyway. I'd rather Apple keep the focus on the phone tech specs and the price point of that.

This may be a necrobump, but I agree. I've never been able to use any of them. Not only is the sound quality awful, they're PAINFUL to use. One of them kills my ear, and the other wont stay in at all. My boyfriend likes them, though, which is the only thing that keeps me from huckin' 'em right into the trash every time I unbox.
