Why do you have an iPad?

I had an iPad 2. Dropped it and replaced it recently with an iPad Air. (128 GB, LTE.)

I read on it, mainly. Post on discussion fora. Watch movies. Browse websites. Watch sports. Listen to music. (Best speakers since my old Playbook!) Look at pictures. Etc.

For me, it's mainly a media consumption device. It's especially good when I'm travelling. Great battery life!

For the media junkies, it's very useful. For others with graphics-intensive work, it's also quite useful.

But for people who are very meat-and-potatoes "I want to do X and that is all", it's probably a waste of money. Premium products are to take pleasure in. If you can't, don't bother with it.

I drive a simple car. A premium car would be a waste on me. For some, a premium tablet is a similar waste.

EDIT: other big use for others -- scaleable text. Once upon a time, old people had to buy special large-print books. Now, they can just buy e-books and increase the text size.

This is an odd thread, to say the least. Personally, I have found many of your comments to be condescending, rude and ultimately counterproductive.

I'm still not totally certain of what you were really looking for from this thread, but I know what I got out of it; you are pretentious and fool-hearty enough to believe that you are the smartest guy in the room.

Good news is this...you are young and you have time to adjust your disposition.

By the way, I love my iPad Air.
