What is that NES icon?

...and that Twilight icon, no, please no.:(

The NES icon is NES3...to play the nes games that i have... the twilight Icon is actually the book. yea, i said it, THE book. I liked the movie so decided to try to read it. and....? What do you have against that? But then again I guess you have to be OK with your sexuality to read it.

i've been jailbreaking since you first could. 3.0 cures most problems. however, i still jailbreak for winterboard, custom tones, and mobile scrobbler. other than that, i don't really use anything else.

Thanks for the NES explanation.

Nothing personal and nothing against people reading what they want.

I have something against Stephanie Meyers and her sad excuse for a book and her turning said trash book into an even worse cliché movie. It is the literary equivalent of watching The Hills or Daisy of Love.

I am quite fine with my sexuality, thank you.

Anybody here thinks that jailbreaking for a new theme is worth it?

No. But that's 'cause I've only ever had problems with my iPhone when I used themes. Horrible, horrible lag. Given the amount of people saying they use Winterboard though I expect someone's going to say I'm talking rubbish.

Personally though, I had awful lag - 30s+ to open sms for one

What are the down sides to Jailbreaking?

See above. Also voids your warranty, but since you can just restore that's never seemed a problem for me

The crashes seem to have picked up in number. Since yesterday I've experienced at least 10 crashes. Sometimes you can't open Cydia or if you want to go into the Search menu, it can take up to 10 times and you have to restart the iPhone anyway.....:(:(:(

I've not had any crashes. I remember Cydia was shocking the first time I jailbroke (beginning of this year) but it's been good to me since then. :)

I installed Genesis4iPhone for my sega games. Emulators are AWESOME. It's seriously my favourite thing about my phone right now.

Why I jailbreak:

I'm moving abroad, so carrier change. Also I change carriers quite a lot, I only use 30 day rolling sim only contracts and change deal/carrier whenever it suits me.

Before 3.0 for better sms apps. Landscape ftw

Apps like cycorder, genesis4iPhone, SBSettings, PDANet (I have a 2G, so no tethering)

I also have Backgrounder, but I pretty much never use it. It's there just in case.

I have done mine for customisation.

5 icon dashboard lets me have more apps per screen.

I mainly jailbreak to use winterboard but mainly just to show my background and clear dock.

I jailbroke my 2G iPhone on 2.2.1 so that I can use my GoPhone sim in it.

I jailbroke my 3G S iPhone so i can run apps like iBlacklist. That app is priceless! I have a few other things such as winterboards tap to unlock and a few small themes.

I'm tempted to jailbreak my 3GS so I can use apps like Backgrounder, 3G Unrestrictor, etc. But first I have a question. It's clear from other posts that the way to jailbreak without invoking the battery drain bug is to install the jailbroken OS file by setting up as a new iPhone, instead of installing from backup. But I don't want to lose all my app save files (saved games, data, etc.). So can I set up as a new phone, then apply a previous data backup over that jailbroken OS install? What happens if I have to restore an unjailbroken OS at some point in the future (for example, OS 3.1)?

I just don't want to lose my app data.

I used Purplera1n on my 3G S and I don't have any battry drain. My battery lasts between 1-2 days with about 9 hours usage. I also restore it from a backup so I could keep everything previously. No battery problems here.

I only had a problem with the battery draining on the 3G S when I used my GoPhone sim in the 3G S. The battery would drop a % every 30 seconds or so. Once I removed the sim and placed my real iPhone sim in, the battery was fine again. I think this has to do with how AT&T is blocking data on non iPhone sims in iPhones running 3.0.

Did you set up iPhone as new with purplera1n before applying your backup?

I jailbroke this last time so I could multitask with the combination of Backgrounder and mQuickDo. I hardly need to touch the home button anymore.

Here are my reasons =]

1. 5 icon columns
2. 5 Row Dock
3. Cycorder/videoreorder3G
4. ClearCam - A better camera
5. Stacks - Awesomeness
6. iRealSMS
7. 3GUnrestrictor
8. iBluetooth
9. MyWi - Creates a wifi network
10. Chronus - Backing up individual app
11. yxflash - plays a wide variety of video formats
12. Winterboard - backrounds etc.
13. HapticPro - Feedback for when you touch, for some reason I like it a lot better with it
14. Status Notifier - You get statusbar icons when you have mail, sms etc.
15 Lockinfo - Intelliscreen alternative that's free, puts calendar sms etc on lockscreen
16. Supreme Preferences - better settings, longer lockscreen, etc.
17. GriP with doublebar theme - Provides push notifications and mail as a second status bar like when your tethering
18. Inspell - Spell checker like on a mac, underlines a wrong word, and then you can correct it just like c/p
19. Sbsettings - quick access to wifi, 3g, etc.
20. Fontswap - change system/lockscreen fonts =D

Because if I paid full price for the darn thing (no AT&T subsidy), I refuse to let activation deter me from using it without a SIM. If I want to use the iPod functions, I own it, and its not AT&T's business (or Apple's for that matter) whether I have a valid voice/data contract or not.

My humble opinion, of course. :D

Winterboard, themes, SBSettings, a few apps, free ringtones without having to make them myself.. customization.. unlocking for later on when i sell my 3GS for the 4th gen iPhone. :)
