Mainly because of OS X, which really is the most advanced OS I've got my hands on. The beauty and the beast.

Today I was looking over some other notebooks, and I found them to look like sh*t, if you'll excuse me for that.

Just get your Mac, and you'll see what we mean here.

Pretty much what everyone else said.

Pretty much what everyone else said. Plug it in and Fagettaboutit!:)

Because if it doesn't work, or breaks, someone is always there to be responsible and helpful at the Apple store. Even if it'll cost $900 to replace a logic board, at least they didn't tell you "I don't know what's wrong" or "call your internet service provider".

They just work. No need to struggle with millions of problems like in Windows. Plug the cord, press the power button, enjoy!

I couldn't have said it better. It just works!
Since I got my Mac, I actually enjoy using my computer again. It doesn't feel like a drawn out task just to do something.
I don't have to reload the OS every couple of months because it just starts to slow down for no apparent reason.

Since I got my Mac earlier this year, my old Dell laptop running Windows XP has blue screened at least 10 times. That thing probably blue screened no more than 3 times in the 5 years I owned it prior to buying the Mac.

Considering I work in the scientific research field rather than the creative fields that seem common on Macrumors, I'll have to say POSIX-compliant UNIX at the command-line. No more using Windows for a mostly usable desktop GUI and a large application library and Linux for coding and good automation command-line tools (although Ubuntu Linux has begun bridging the desktop GUI issue).

+1. Besides the nice interface and ease of use the underlying Mac code is Unix with an available Terminal built in. Beats the Windows proprietary code with its command line IMHO.

I mistakenly attempted to execute some Linux code with OS X one time. It didn't work but Darwin at least recognized it.

I love that when you need an accessory for your Mac you don't have to shop around and read reviews to find which router is the best or which external monitor would be the best to use because everything you need is at the Apple Store :)

But there's so many things at the apple store, half of them are terrible (like those cheap laptop things, yah know, the tiny ones? and the laptops on a stick) some of them don't work, and not all of us want to pay $1k for a monitor that hasn't been updated in 3 years.

Yes, I know Apple isn't perfect and have some products that suck but they do make it simple (that was my entire point). The terrible things at the Apple Store must be from some other company that manufactured them. Or am I wrong?

I suppose you've never heard of a g4 cube? or all the mac desktops except the mac pro? Why don't we get a real desktop like the rest of the computing world? Why do you iSheep insist on calling the MBP a "desktop replacement"? Well lemme tell ya something: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DESKTOP REPLACEMENT. Until i see 3.5" drives, desktop processors, pci-e cards, and desktop ram in one of apple's computers for under $2k i'll still be kinda dissatisfied.

damn you jobs! you probably have some mac somewhere with dual i7's, 2 gtx 295's in SLI, 12 gb ram, and 3 tb of storage. Right next to your mac tablet, the only one that will ever be produced.

Because they make the worlds best tablet....4 months from now.

Some people like turtles, I like big cats.

The mac tablet doesn't exist. It never will, and if it ever does, it will FAIL because no one wants a tablet.
Just because it is a mac, doesn't make it a tablet (ridiculous niche product)
You compare the ipod to the itablet.
But before the ipod, people listened to music. Before the tablet, people aren't like "damn i wish i had a useless hunk of aluminum with a touch screen and iphone OS"

It was more of a joke then anything. It could be a killer product if it instead runs something closer to leopard than the iPhone OS, and could integrate with current Macs. It has some good possibilities and I'm sure Apple will have something up their sleeve. But I'm done hijacking this thread. OS X for the win.

It took almost no time for me to get up and running with OSX even though I had basically never used it before. I liked trying something new after using windows for so many years.

I've had less problems with my MBP

Love the UI

Feels really solid, my old thinkpad took some pretty big hits but it never felt nearly this solid even when it was new.

Dock and Expose, even though I had windows equivalents of them for a few years now on my desktop.

SPACES and Stacks, saves me quite a bit of time.

I'd rather have a few great programs to accomplish a task than 100 mediocre ones.

Good included full version software

and finally

The national weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning with golf ball sized hail and high winds. Says to protect life and property, and above all to stay way from windows.

I'm on my MBP, so I'm covered! :apple:

Sleep actually works

Or

The the computer won't freeze after just two days of use

Or maybe

I don't have to wait ages for it to turn on and off. Why does it take a minute to turn on and off with a friggen quad core 8gig SSD setup?
