Went into Best Buy today for a 64 GB Silver iPhone 6. They had one in stock, I traded in my phone and proceeded to pay the phone outright. The phone rang up $800, I told them that's wrong, the price is $750 for a new device, full price. The manager didn't seem to care and said, this is Best Buy, we are different, we won't match the price because its out of stock everywhere. I ended up reversing my trade in. What gives?

Best Buy price matches, you can ask them to price match with Apple without giving them that extra $$$.

I can't say I've ever known them to do that with any Apple products...

I believe it is up to the manager on whether or not they price match. I have heard that it does have to be in stock where ever you are wanting them to match.

Best Buy over prices the full retail price for every single phone by $50 to $100, and they will not price match phones purchased without a contract. They stopped price matching phones purchased without a contract last year.

I worked at Best Buy for 5 years up until 3 months ago and ran into the same thing last year with the 5s. For a company who bases there entire business model on price matching (which they do now days. The fact that they are higher then MSRP and won't price match is the biggest load of **** I've ever seen. I got in an argument with my manager about this and he said deal with it.

And they wonder why people absolutely ****ing hate them. They'll be gone soon enough.

Unfortunately the majority of people are not buying outright and to the average customer that doesn't know tech doesn't know of better options. They are not going anywhere anytime soon.

It really is bad business, I have gotten a number of my iPhones from Best Buy but after this, no more, I rather go to the Apple store or the carrier from now on. The manager was a dick and wouldn't even call somewhere else to check stock.

Seems like they are counting on people who either don't pay attention or don't know any better. Sad.

My Best Buy seemed to be charging the MSRP on phones. I bought mine as a Verizon Edge upgrade, but I saw other's ring up at normal price.

Just picked one up and they charges $799 for a 64 regular i6

Gonna go return it. Either they price match or I'll open it use it for 8 days and then go return it.
That's very unethical of me...touché

My local Best Buy did this last year with the 5s, $50 over retail. And it was because nobody else had them in stock.

I highly doubt they are allowed to charge over. My guess is that someone tried to force Geek Squad or such on you.

I might be inclined to call Apple and complain. After all Best Buy is acting as an Apple rep and not in a good way.

They've always done this. At least 50 over normal retail. I've chatted with them physically and online. It's so u get a contract.

$50 over retail.
I purchased a 128g outright
I ran the numbers and.with my discount it's cheaper to next it for a year.
Going back tomorrow

I'd still be inclined to call Apple and file a complaint about how crap a practice it is.

If Apple won't care about the scalpers and resellers, why would they bother about Best Buy.... its the same practice.
