What?!

I don't think of Apple as just a hardware company because, let's be honest, their hardware isn't great. Recent Apple laptops especially are poorly built and overpriced for the hardware you get. I only use Apple for OSX.

I'm amazed at how the new Macbooks just seem to fall apart. If I could purchase a copy of OSX and install it on a new Dell notebook (ie, the new Insprion 13 C2D) I would do it in a heartbeat.

Apple's hardware isn't that great? I have a 5 year old snow iBook G3 that I use DAILY for schoolwork, etc. I don't call that poorly built. I understand you're talking about the newer models, but they just get better and better in my perspective. :apple:

i know i totally agree. people always say its overpriced for the hardware you get. the hardware is extremely high quality, and it lasts for years. i have 2 macs from the 80's in my basement that still work, try to find me an ibm from the same time thats functional

It's tough because the Apple hardware is expensive, when PC's carrying the same components are much more cheaper.

There are so many reasons that we Apple people get a little upset at that suggestion - the elegance of hardware and software that Apple creates, the quality of the software and OS, and the simple end user experience. It just seems wrong to put it in a junky tower.

Although lately, eyeing off that new 17" unibody makes me wish there was a cheaper way to get my hands on one.....!
