Why does Johnny hate the black-gold color combination?

He probably hates it because it generally looks quite tacky IMO. I think white and gold compliment each other on an iPhone but not with black thrown into the equation. Just my view.
mock ups or artist renders like the above use "real gold" color that is tacky
I speak about the usual "apple gold" that is more tasteful anyway

If you're getting a Rolex Submariner, you get the all stainless version. The two-tone black/gold and blue/gold, although more expensive, look awful. Gawdy, tacky and cheap looking! The same is true for an iPhone. Premium product or not, it looks horrible.
People were saying the same for white gold, then when apple told them it was cool suddenly it was the best idea ever

I think the champagne gold and black looks fine, something I'd consider getting. The C3PO gold and black looks awful.
Actually what happened is, the champagne/gold iPhone looked far better in real life than any of the pre-release renders
