Why does this happen to RAM?

What exactly does it mean that 3.60 GB is "used"?

The computer isn't slowing down, I'm just wondering how this works haha.

That just shows you how much of your RAM you are using. If 3.60 GB is "used," this means you are using 3.60 GB of your available 4 GB. If you close some programs, you should see that number decrease. Hope this helps.

close and restart your web browser. it frees up quite a bit of ram for me. safari is a hog after a few hours.
