You must be kidding. Don't tell me the company that has the best designs in the world can't come up with a door mechanism, you're simple defending Apple. That just looks silly. Its the general psychology, mind finds reasons to justify things we like.

I'm sorry your responses are just silly and unfounded. The whole "defending apple" bit is getting old. Everyone is telling you there is simply no room for a hinge mechanism, and a sliding mechanism would introduce a seam which Apple won't go for.

If your so great at battery compartment solutions please go apply to Apple as an industrial designer and show them how its done.

If you want to change your battery, go to iFixit's website, they have four pages that show you how to tear your iPhone apart if you wish.

Im surprised that so many people are still backing up apple to this degree:

-Theres no other product available that has matched features and a removable battery (I heard it several times)
-Really? I own a Samsung Galaxy S, (ex-apple, and happier). Its a BEAUTIFUL phone. The sound quality is superb (due to a better audio chip), it has far more features than Apple could ever hope to implement into one of they're products, and has a removable battery! I bought a 10$ battery replacement (from China. Product + shipping = $10, amazingly). It has double the life of my old battery (new one is 3000mah), with only the cost of more width.

Btw, the "hinges" and "mechinisms" don't add a ton of width. My phone is amazingly thin, even with a deidcated battery compartment that also houses the external micro-sd add-on (up to 32gbs), and the SIM card.

But try to enjoy your ipods...

Does samsung have a product comprable to an ipod touch with replaceable battery? If they do I would buy it in a heartbeat.Dont want or need a phone.
