$10 bucks per disc would kill that deal for me, i guess this is more money going back to Sony. Maybe this is part of the reason why blue-ray has not taken off?

Who is stupid? The ones who recognize the situation, or the ones that blindly defend it? I personally don't care. I don't watch DVD/Blu-ray on my PC anyway. I'm in favor of doing away with the ODD myself. See the iOS subscription model if you're not convinced.
