Every app I reopen takes off where it left off. Doesn't that take some memory.

Of course it takes memory, but an app doesn't significantly use the processor or battery to sit frozen in memory. (And, technically, what you said isn't even true. As memory is needed, the least recently used apps are closed.)

They don't want you to have alot of things. A bigger screen, more than 512mb memory, a new style, independence from needs a mac or pc, they aren't freedom fighters like Android

I don't get how killing apps on iOS is a PITA.

It takes me less than 30 seconds to kill a days worth of apps for me, which is anywhere from 20-30.

Just spam tap the left most app in the tray.

Not hard. Really.

way easier than downloading a separate app from the app store like android. Its built right in and takes 15 sec to kill something. Its really really not hard folks

I'm not sure what is true and what isn't. Way too many fanboys and people who think that having less apps open makes no difference when there's no way to know for sure without doing some research and tests. You don't know every detail of every app. And you dont know just because apple says something that it's fully true, or how a feature works compared to how it is supposed to work
Then why are you asking us? Clearly you know best...

Well when I have apps that open and then promptly CRASH if I don't close a bunch of apps first--based on checking what is still in RAM and how much RAM is free I tend to think a lot of people here are blind to the fact that iOS is not the godsend to memory management they seem to think it is.

this is what i'm saying...just because it is supposed to, or does for the most perfect....it would still help to just close everything once in a while

I'm sure if a Siri command ("Siri, remove all apps from multitasking bar") came out tomorrow, people would be tripping over themselves singing the praises of how awesome this new feature is.

what about the 'what are you stupid iOS doesn't need to close apps' users

Apple should have never added the multitasking bar in the form it currently is in. It is misleading and gives users the impression that applications are running, need to be closed, and things run "snappier" when they do so. Perhaps many of these users come from Windows backgrounds.

Most applications go into a suspend state mode. Some, like GPS and music players can run certain threads in the background. Every application ran and suspended appears in this bar and OCD users must close them all.

Personally, I'm not a fan of suspended state applications. Close em and reopen them. I'll take a fresh start over a resumed point at the cost of a second.

LMAO ... I totally agree ;)

No one is blind it just hasn't happened to a lot of people. Personally I never experienced anything like that on my iPhone.

In the end of that's a feature you truly want jailbreak it, send a suggestion to apple or get an android device.

Also I don't think it's nice to accuse people of being blind just because
This hasnt happened to them.

iOS is supposed to be able to manage tasks properly on it's own, suspending those which aren't in use.

Am forever forgetting that Tunein Radio app is running and racking up god knows how much data usage.

Hitting the pause button keeps the app running, it runs in darkness as the screen turns off.

Would like to have an icon to press that clears and stops everything.
