I've already got Nike bands and don't care about the Nike faces. Not to mention the Nike watch is not available in titanium anyway.

I"m real sensitive to bands being too tight, so that's a no for me.
Seriously, you don’t have to wear SS models tighter. I would go back and forth between my Nike Series 6 and SS series 4, and after the first minute I couldn’t feel the difference and I certainly never had the slightest feeling like i needed to adjust my bands differently. This is a very minor weight difference.

I wore Nike watches for a long time. Then I got a used gold SS to try it out because I am a band collector and like different looks. I ended up loving it, and even though I definitely miss the Nike faces to go with my Nike bands, it was worth it to me to go for SS silver in series 7 and pass my series 6 Nike down to my boyfriend, who still had a series 3. I just really like the SS silver with the silver hardware on my leather bands and Milanese loop. And with more control over the colors of non-Nike faces than we used to have, it makes up some of the difference in not having the exactly matched Nike faces to go with my Nike bands.

I notice more movement with steel when exercising with the same level of tension between aluminium and steel.

This is my experience, yours may vary.

For a lot of people it's timing - the Nike watch comes out a month or so later than the regular watch. I don't like the face/strap enough to wait an extra month for the watch.

That used to be very frustrating, but last year (which may be the new trend due to shortages) they all released at the same time, go figure.

My use case is different and I’m being picky here, but the Nike version doesn‘t allow you to start a “running” workout with Siri.

It will default you to NRC and not start. If you don’t have NRC installed it will bring you to the workout app.

Again super picky, but regular Apple Watch can start a running workout hands free using Siri. Nike one you have to start it yourself. This has been going on since series 4. Apple has yet to fix it (probably because no once cares except me ☺️)

So I was curious to test this method. I told Siri to start a run, but I was met with a screen since I have a few apps that can track runs. When I tapped NRC, it started the run. Maybe there has been progress with your gripe if NRC is the only running app you have?

But wait…there’s more…

So if you say “Start a run in Nike Run Club, it does just that and needs no additional steps. Or did you mean starting a running workout with Siri in the stock workout app and not NRC?

Curious because it’s been a while since I have tried this. What happens when you launch from the watch itself without the phone.

Curious because it has been a while. Have you tried to launch via Siri straight from the watch without the iPhone apparent?

I've never gotten a Nike Apple Watch because they only come in aluminum. I've always gotten SS and this year, titanium. I want the sapphire display. 😞
Same. I'm hoping to get the Apple Watch Pro as I'm a triathlete and hate using Garmin watches. A titanium watch with a larger display and longer battery life sounds brilliant.

I love the Nike Sport Bands and still have my Nike S2 in rotation. When I upgraded, I went with the Space Black Stainless Steel model because I liked the look and weight of it more. I wish Nike would make SS models, but they are geared to be “sporty”.

When i bought my S3 i bought the standard edition, but looking at an S7 as my battery doesnt last a round of golf, which is my main use for the watch.

So if the Nike version is the same price, and it has an extra pretty cool watch face, and i think most users have more than one strap anyway, why wouldnt everyone buy the nike one?
Why doesn’t everyone buy the regular watch after all who wants a Nike branded watch face. And why make them in different colors I only like black?
See how that sounds?

I'm not saying there's a "problem" with it. But the aluminium with a sports band is certainly a LOT more comfortable to exercise with in my experience. I've currently got both and switch between them.

And to the poster above - its not like the weight is an effort - its just that the aluminium watch stays put on the wrist better and shifts around less. Which is why the Nikes are aluminium - because they're sport focused.
yet Apples choice for a “sports focused” watch is titanium NOT aluminum. And aluminum is certainly no more comfortable than titanium in that aspect.

It sounds less logical than my original question to be honest :D

My point was that they are the same price. The Nike one you get extra faces. Most of us like extra faces. Simply talking about extra faces there’s no downside to buying the Nike one or upside to buying the normal one. I get peoples comments on here about release dates or different metals or indeed dislike for Nike branding.

I highly doubt there will be more of those titanium watches used for sports compared to the aluminium versions though. That may be Apples idea but in reality the titanium watch will be £700 or £800 which is a very expensive sports watch, especially when the aluminium version will have the same apps. I doubt the weight differences between these two will be noticeable either.

They used to be released 3 weeks after from memory. My S5 Nike was released a few weeks after the standard watch and I waited because I thought if I’m paying the same amount, I might as well have a watch with extra features. If they now release them at the same time, it’s almost a no brainer just to get it. I wouldn’t get it if I had to wait longer however.

Each time I get ready to upgrade I’ve considered getting the Nike version. I tend to see more discounts on the non-Nike version, at least early in the cycle, than on the Nike version. So list price may be the same, but street price can vary. I like discounts more than exclusive Watch faces and I already have a few Nike bands. There’s also color availability. I went for the red S7 last year (which I still love 10 months later).

If I could get the color I want, both were the same price, and both were in stock or shipping in the same timeframe I’d absolutely choose the Nike version.
