Why doesnt macrumors forums run IPB?

Sort of pathetic he is proposing a massive front-end cost in time and money to save $14 a year.

But you also need to pony up another $150 in the front end which means the SW costs alone doesn't begin to pay for itself for about 12 years.

Don't see this one paying off anytime soon, or until the mods switch from snacks and pizza to paychecks.
 
Just for SnG's lets say MR wants to upgrade. It would be a lot harder to do now considering how big this site has gotten, that is a lot of down time that is just not worth the expense. When the forums go down for 5 minutes everyone goes into a panic attack. I don't see how an upgrade to a whole new system won't have it's share of bugs that would need to be sorted out. And even if Arn wants to change what's to say he won't pick another forum software altogether. Im sure there is a new version of VB coming soon that will give us new features.
 
Quite obviously, you're not going to win over any hearts, so take your sales elsewhere.
