I basically have found that all these "shields" is nothing more than the biggest money making scam thats made off all smartphones to date. I found that the shield is more prone to scratch than the screen will ever be (its plastic), as I was buying new batches every other month I always thought to myself, 'whew good thing I had a shield on it otherwise that would have been a scratch on my screen' and off I went to spend more money needlessly. That was with my 3G after I wised up and seen the light, I stop using them and when I got the ip4 nothing went on it, well my naked 4 never got a single any scratch front or back and I still have the 3g since release, guess what, yeah besides a superfine 4mm hairline scratch only seen in a glare theirs nothing...I choose not to believe the hype and put that money toward something more useful..

Cool opinion, others see different! And the world continues turning

Those skins are great if you want to ruin how your phone looks and feels. It basically turns the screen into the surface of an orange, and makes it look like it's covered in vaseline.

Funny, my shield never feel like that....maybe i wash my hands more than others???

Also, they have HD versions with no orange peel, fwiw

I care more about resale value than how it looks.

BTW. Nothing you said was true.

I had the HD invisisheild on all weekend. The orange peel affect was there, not in texture but you could see it. The cut outs were awful and the protector didn't extend to the edges of the device for a "case" but it was ridiculous. I couldn't handle the squeaky feeling of the screen either. Biggest waste of money ever.

There is a new product out to protect your iphone, you keep it in it 100% of the time. Its called isafe (trademarked)

They now have a maximum protection version

You don't douse your phone in a bed of liquid. If you did, you did it wrong. I've been using similar products for years (BSE, Wrapsol, etc..) They all work really well and still give you that naked feel while really protecting your device.

People give way too much of a crap about keeping their devices 100% pristine. I understand resale value, but it's a mobile phone...get real.

a $700 mobile phone

The focus point here is on the antenna band and back plate of the iPhone 5 which does scratch easily.

I agree with you ref the front screen.

I installed the Zagg anti-glare and like it. I still think Power Support USA makes the best ones on the market but hey arent available yet. I have one spec of dust under the Zagg but dont feel like I could get it out without messing up the protector. With the Power Support one it would be a piece of cake.

I keep hearing that the iPhone 5 scratches easily. Why don't people use something like InvisibleSHIELD to protect the entire phone from scratches? I'm considering buying it or something similar. Has anyone used this for another iPhone or can recommend something similar?

The same reason I don't wrap my couch in plastic or have foam on my walls, sometimes you use something the way it was designed to be used, not wrap it up like a ming vase and constantly worry about it.

Answer: Same reason I don't wear a helmet every time I leave my house; It's unnecessary and obnoxious for the amount you gain.

Simple: Most of them haz no time to use one since their devices come factory-scratched.

I have Zagg smudge resistant on my 5, i don't have any problems with it, no orange feel. I'm tempted to use the HD version just to see if i see any difference.

Replacement screens only cost $30. Why spend $30 on a protector?

Source??

Well I used it on my iPhone 3 and iPhone 4, and compared to my friends and colleague's phones, mine always looked as brand-new after removing the shield. I got a good resale value for it too. So I prefer to invest $7 to get a brand-new looking phone whenever I want to sell it.
On my iPhone 3, on the white plastic back, I had zero scratches. That is worth the $$$ for me.

I will never use the Invisible Shield, for the reasons already mentioned. I will only get a case that has a built-in screen protector. I don't plan on getting the iPhone 5, but I had the 4S, and at the time I used the Otterbox Defender case (which has a built-in screen protector). My 4S was still in like new condition when I sold it earlier this month.

Cool bro, you got money for your clean iphone using the screen protector. I also sold my 4 without ever having a screen protector and it still looked new when sold for $$$. So you happy and I'm happy we all be happy. :D

I have an armorsuit military shield on mine and I love it. I did get a little lint under it on thievery top of the screen, but it was completely my fault, and you can't even really notice it. It's a great skin and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

Went to Best Buy and got the HD Shield while my SGP comes in the mail and i will have to say after the horrible experiences with Zagg i actually like this one.

it doesn't take away screen quality at all like the regular one does and doesn't have that rubbery feel like the regular one.

Wow we had the same product and complete opposite opinions.
Maybe i got lucky or i am not as picky...Who knows

I've used it and found that I was going back to the kiosk every month to have it re-done.

Bought BSE (Best Skins Ever) for my 3G. It was really nice, but it got cruddy fairly quickly. Pulled it off and didn't bother putting on the second one I had bought. Never went back.

I purchased the Skinomi full protection pack for about $4.50 shipped last week when it was on pre-order. Absolute bargain and has the quality of a Zagg product for a fraction of the price.

Word of wisdom for those of you planning to buy one of these adhesive protectors-- always have your fingers wet with the solution to avoid fingerprints. And don't be afraid to wet your phone. I spray on both the protector and the phone's surface to get a decent layer of water so I can adjust the fitting before the adhesive kicks in. Lastly, it takes a day or two for the water to evaporate between the protector and the screen. DON'T re-install if it looks fuzzy. It will clear up within a day or two.

The iPhone 5 is just too sleek for me to put a case on. I'm leaving it naked with just the Skinomi to protect from scratches.

I have been using Ghost Armor since IP4 and never had a problem. Their newest skin is thinner and virtually has no orange peel effect.
