Why does Apple give you this tiny little USB cable with a wall adapter instead of a real charger? Preferably one longer than 2-3 feet also?

It charges, what's so fake about it? Do you also want your iPhone to be the size of Zach Morris's phone for it to be a real phone? Shucks, you probably don't know who he is anyway.

I'm not asking for a BIGGER device like a ancient Saved By The Bell phone so you must not understand a very simple question. It's just stupid not to give us a regular charger than can reach further than 2 feet. :D

Nothing wrong with the charger or cable. Apple can not make everyone happy.

It is not Apple that is stupid!

Don't be a jerk. The charger that comes with the phone is one short USB cable and an adapter. 2 pieces. What the TS is saying is it would be nice to have a charger that was just a single item that had a longer cord. Not everyone lives in a studio/efficiency apartment where the electrical outlet is within 12 inches of you.

Yeah, a real one. Big is real and small and innovative is ... fake ?

I found this annoying to. The short cable is nice when I am charging the phone with my computer (a longer cable might get in the way), but when I want to charge it with the wall charger, it barely reaches my desk.

It plugs into the wall and charges your phone.

It works both in your home and anywhere else you happen to be with a wall outlet.

On what planet is that not a "real home charger?"

Get an extension cord!:p

They would include a longer cord, but they would have to make the box bigger. And who wants a bigger box?

Luckily, they do sell longer cords. So we get our small boxes and you get variety.

I'd wager that the overwhelming majority of people charge their phones on a nightstand, for which the cable is more than sufficient.

If you have a special need for a longer cable, a USB extension cable is $5 online.

So instead of it being 2 pieces, which is the main complaint, it's now 3 pieces?

The horror.

I'm happy it's a short cable -- nothing to get tangled, no need to wind, very easy to throw in your pocket or a suitcase when heading out on a trip, and the perfect length to connect to your laptop when it's time to sync.

I never wanted a longer iPhone cable. It's perfect for travel and fits in any USB port even if you don't have the wall charger around.

If you want a longer cable then eBay is your friend.

I too wish the cable was longer. I wish the cables were a little better built as well. I've never had an Apple one last the life of a phone. The current aftermarket one I use nightly, has lasted since the purchase of my 3gs during the week of its release.

The short ones are great for just connecting to the computer though, or for using in the car.

Your iPhone's cord a little on the short side? Us Android users have longer cords :) Size does matter

Meh, while USB extensions get the job done, I'd rather have a single cable. Multi cable hack jobs are for Android phones. :D Just kidding.
