What could possibly be more interesting than water? Want some interesting facts about water?

1) You can't live without it
2) In its pure form (pure H2O) it is poisonous

That's all I got... :p

In all seriousness, your body will thank you if you just stick to water...

Which is also good for your kidneys...

Too much of anything can kill you, even water.

Personally, I like having a soda, maybe a diet one, some mornings. I can't stand coffee, and neither in certain quantities are good for you.

Why can't WE have that!

I don't know Drumjim maybe Coke think you're too special for it. Next time I'm over I'll bring you a few cans.

Didn't I hear last time I was in the USA that during some Jewish holiday you can still buy the really sugar stuff???

Another interesting fact is that hydrogen is explosive, oxygen fuels fires, and yet water puts out a fire.

Also, tell someone to be careful about getting dihydrogen monoxide poisoning and you'll scare the crap out of them

Coke zero has a substantial amount of caffeine and some sodium, both of which serve to dehydrate you. So while the drink provides some level of hydration by virtue of it being mostly water, it's not nearly as hydrating as plain water. And while its caffeine levels are low compared with coffee, if you drank nothing but coke zero, their effects would be substantial (8 cans a day provides about 275mg of caffeine, which is significant).

Coke zero also contains carbonic acid and phosphoric acid and it has a low pH (around 2.5, I'd guess; diet soda is more acidic than sugared soda). There are many health problems associated with phosphoric acid consumption and it's been conclusively linked to decreased bone density and kidney problems.

Furthermore, coke zero contains aspartame and acesulfame potassium, both of which are potential carcinogens (though nothing conclusive has been proven about either, much has been suggested). Artificial sweeteners have also been (more conclusively) linked with increased risk of diabetes, because they fool the body into thinking it's getting sugar and they increase insulin levels artificially. Studies have also shown that this, combined with the diet soda-drinker's thoughts that he's avoiding calories simply by drinking diet soda, encourage the intake of high-calorie food; so there's an established association between diet soda consumption and weight gain.

That said, I drink a lot of diet soda and the main reason I don't drink more is cost, not health.

Hate to go to Wiki, but here ya go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication. Like they say, it's probably not going to happen on accident, but it can and has killed people in the past.

Eating/drinking too much of anything can kill you.

i wasn't arguing with you, but it just sounds like a dumb point to make in the why drink water if there is coke zero thread.

you didn't hear about that old lady in the water drinking contest?

I did. Crazy stuff.

It was a ridiculous point to make, I admit, but I was just replying to someone posting about drinking water. Playing a (bad) Devil's Advocate, if you will. Eeverything can be bad, and someone drinking Coke Tasteless shouldn't be horrible in itself. Dog food is much better, anyway.

It wasn't an old lady. She was roughly 35, and it happened about 3 miles from me.

Google for 'Hold your wee for a Wii', and you'll see what happened. She died of water intoxication, and the hosts of the local radio morning show holding the contest ignored the calls from doctors and nurses who advised against the contest.

Cost the mother of 2 her life, and 3 DJs their jobs.

BL.

well... the wii is super fun

just kidding, that's weird

Is this the same local radio show that had a hands-on-a-truck contest where the guy walked into a supermarket and shot himself?

I saw that on a documentary about how easy it is to get guns in the US.

They won't let you drink real sugar coke, but they'll let you all own firearms!
