It takes minutes for you to open safari?!

Something is wrong my friend.

Also, buy some friggin ram, its cheap and 2GB just doesn't really cut it anymore. Still, sounds like something is definitely wrong here.

Especially if he's running photoshop. I hope he's not a masochist!

I have been using the latest Chrome v5.0.307.9 beta for Mac during the last week or so.. Pretty happy so far, to the point I am ready to say goodbye to Safari 4. Main reasons:

  • Extensions. This is huge. Safari is a closed browser, with near zero support for extensions. I now use AdBlock, GoogleVoice, and 1Password, which all add a lot of usability to the browser.
  • Bookmark Sync. This works "out of the box", and now all my Bookmarks on multiple computers and work computers are in perfect sync. It all happens in the background, no need to even think about it.
  • Better UI. This is somewhat subjective, but so far I prefer the minimalistic Chrome UI that mostly stays out of your way.. For example, the status bar on the bottom only pops up when there is a message to display, otherwise it disappears leaving more room for webpages. The tab ordering is also more intuitive - when a link opens new tab, it's right next to the original tab.
  • Speed and Memory Usage. Again, subjective but Chrome feels at least fast as Safari 4, and often faster. This can be perceptional though.

So, thus far.. I think Google has a winner here, and Chrome for Mac is still in beta.. so it will only get better.

Yeah another vote for Chrome here, I've been using since the first beta release and found it to be both fast and stable, and it launches very quickly :)

As a UK user, having Chrome's search default to Google.co.uk is worth the switch alone. I'm sure there's a way to change Safari's, but I don't like having to dig through resource files just to get basic functionality working.

the facebook extension won me over. one click for a box with facebook feeds/chat/profile everything :p

i don't know why, but chrome seemingly takes quite longer to open pages than safari for me........
