The price on the Galaxy Tab keeps dropping. It's a good deal now with its camera and GPS and speed.

In the US the Galaxy's reduced price is due to carrier subsidies. While I doubt it would actually happen, but all VZW needs to do is offer a subsidy and the iPad would once again be price competitive.

Common sense must tell you that Apple desperately want to totally quash the rumour of a 2048x1536 display via letting news slip out of official/unofficial channels.
If that's their plan, they're doing a horrible job of it. Every day now, the latest update is the opposite of the previous day's rumor.

Right now, we've got Gruber and Rose saying no, and Digitimes and Engadget saying yes.

Apple is already using retina display for the iphone 4 and ipod touch 4. iPhone 5 is more than likely have retina display, too.

Hahaha I have this funny image in my head of the next Apple conference:

"And now we give you, the iPhone 5!!!"

Then Steve Jobs gets up and says
"Yea so, we didn't really like that whole Retina Display thing, so we've decided not to include it on the iPhone 5. 3GS screen, here we come!"

lol

Apple has had iPhone supply issues (3.5 screen).
Apple had iPad supply issues when it came out.

Supply issues was the only negative point in the earnings call Q&A with the folks asking the questions.

I don't think Apple would want a situation where they really constrain supply by including a screen that the industry can't supply them in bulk. They are having these things being grabbed out of their hand. From a business point of view there isn't any reason to go above and beyond.

You might keep repeating Xoom and whatever else, but I read the same thing over and over about HP Slate, and look at where it is. I think vapor is the right word. No amazing sales of "S Pad" (not the sales to retail numbers Samsung has released), and Norton Ink Adam... well, we'll see how they are once somebody actually gets their hands on one.

You guys keep bringing up iPhone 4, but it took Apple 2 years of mediocre product iterations (3G, 3GS) before coming up with the 4. They are certainly not the goose that always ***** golden eggs.
