question for you guys, if you use the maps.google.com via safari can u only get map view. I can't find a toggle to switch between satellite, map, hybrid etc like you used to able to on the ios5 map app.

I noticed this too ... pretty huge dealbreaker for me believe it or not.

Not sure what deal there is to break, but anyway there is a menu that offers layers.

Exactly.

For that matter, the Google Maps web app has 45 degree view while the native app didn't. Conversely, the web app does not have street view. Gain one, lose one.

They want Apple customers to feel the pain of using a bad maps app.

Agree. I'd say Google Maps is two months out. Just long enough for Apple to get plenty of bad publicity (which equals good publicity for the maker of the maps that were removed in iOS 6).

Then after the free publicity dies down, Google will submit a native Maps app and Apple will speedily approve it.

In the meantime, the web app is bandaiding the problem reasonably well and Apple Maps is great for certain uses.

It's no secret Apples out to destroy Google. I don't blame them for keeping their highest priority in house.

Apple will get maps done right if we simply be patient.
