I'd like to know why, oh why, Apple didn't implement Micro-USB. They dropped the proprietary dock connector, and it looked like the perfect time to pickup the industry standard Micro-USB. But no - Apple insisted on yet ANOTHER proprietary connector.

How often do you charge your phone with the cord dangling across the floor? Never for me.

With laptops you always do.

From what I remember it's sound. USB doesn't do digital while the lighting connector does (I think that was the reason). Besides, there are so many things out there, it's a dead point.

Because Micro USB is bad as a mobile port and isn't reversible.
The ports are fragile and i've known many many phones to have the USB port fail on them.

Here's an article http://www.pocketables.com/2012/12/...ightning-connector-vs-microusb-connector.html

USB C should address all of this but it's not here yet.

I just want a reversible thunderbolt2 connection on the phones with matching main boards and hardware RAID solid state memory. MagSafe/ wireless charging would be good but it's not suitable for a data connection. I wouldn't mind having included inductive charging back panel on top of lightning but it would supposedly add bulk to the phone.

MagSafe is huge, unreliable data transfer, and wireless charging is inefficient.

You're not smarter than Apple.

So you think i'm trying to be smarter than Apple? By asking a legitimate question there seems to be little answer for? Should we all assume to just ignore future/propriety tech because "apple are smart (they'll do it)".
Stupid statement.

I invested into something similar like this https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1193255258/cabin-the-easiest-way-to-recharge-your-iphone

$50 I think and it should deliver sometime in November. I don't know how well it will do, but I'll give it a shot.

Hey, That looks cool, might have to grab one.

I thought this too, not for the same reasons as you, but for this:
European Parliament Rules Apple must use the Micro-USB Standard Port for European iDevices by 2017
I'm well aware that's 3 years away however.

Good point, but for me, i sometimes for example sitting on the sofa, grab my iphone to go do something and yank the cable out (yes i can be stupid at times). I'm always tripping over my iPad cable (even when it's well placed!) Also, i just think it'd be a compliment to have the "snap" when it's connected :p

I just stated the reasons why they don't do it. It's simple really.
