I would take it in and see if they can take a return. The only downside is that you'll potentially be without a phone for a while because getting your hands on a 6 this weekend is going to be something of a challenge, I would think. They can also always reject the return since technically you're past the 14-day window.

In all honesty, I only wanted TouchID because my employer forces a 7-digit passcode on our phones if we want to have mail, calendar, etc. on them. I don't really care about a bigger screen or updated specs. Apple Pay does seem interesting, though.

Well, like I said then, the 5S is a great phone and I have no doubt that you could be very happy with it. I still love my 5S, and though I'm excited about the 6 I don't feel that nagging "have to have my new phone!" urge because I've been so happy with my current device. Enjoy it!

Was interesting to see that the 5S starts up faster than both 6 and 6+

Are there iPhone 6 signs at your apple store? There aren't at mine yet.

I don't own an Apple store.

I didn't realize it was a franchise operation!

I also don't visit any apple store regularly. I think it's silly to NOT have any signage or advertising for a multi-million-unit new device

Nitpicking grammar... wonderful.

Anyways, Apple has always been like this. They promote the new product in stores when you can actually buy it in the store. Making customers feel like they are out of the loop or foolish for not knowing the latest news is just plain bad business. What would they say, anyways? "The iPhone 6 comes out Friday... you won't be getting one until November, though. Unless you plan on taking a vacation day and standing in line on Friday."

Me too!

I have just bought a 5S too :D I waited to see the 6, thought meh! too big and went with the reduced price 32GB 5S. Love it, I wish they would make smaller phones.

I'm seriously considering picking up a Xperia Z1 compact…though I would like to keep my Macbook Pro, PowerMac, dual iPad and iPhone ecosystem intact, the iPhone 6 is just too big.

The 5s is a fine phone. Enjoy it. Or try to return it. You're literally just one day past the return period, I'm sure there's something they can do.

I mean he did say he bought the 5S on 9/2, so the 6 and 6 Plus weren't "technically" announced yet. There is no way Apple employees would have been advertising their upcoming release because they wouldn't have even known. Yes, they might be like most of us and knew they were coming, but there is no way they had exact details.

Hopefully, they'd be a bit more savvy than that and would say "Did you hear about the new iPhone 6?! It includes XYZ features that you are going to love! It will release Friday, 9/19. Get here early to get one at the store before they're sold out!"

...I agree, it's dumb to not have advertising about a newly announced product. But in the country that Apple operates out of, there's more of an emphasis on "buyer beware" or more "consumer be informed". I think that stinks, personally, because people like my parents who are getting older and can't keep up with the latest tend to get (screwed) left behind...

What they don't do is post on MacRumors about it.
