i was scarred about viewing this thread because i do not want to be convinced to not get a touch. but they were some terrible excuses to take yours back in my opinion. the ical was a disappointment but not that big of a deal (for me). the screen issues will easily go away by the time i get mine (mid october). have not heard anyone say the video playback is bad. if you're talking about the bad screens you repeated yourself. im looking forward to getting my touch when i get the money.

I think I just met myself in a parallel universe.

Seriously, I'm in the same boat.

I am disappointed

I am a roadie and I use the Calendar option all day long. Without being able to input it while away the unit is virtually worthless to me. I guess I will wait for a iPhone with a larger capacity. I imagine they will be out soon enough. :apple:

Posting from Touch.
did you call apple about your delayed preorder? I did and they gave $50 off the price PLUS i got a 38 serial #. So all that just walked into the store n bought them got a bad shipment. Mine is perfect, and it just takes getting used to as far as using it without looking. Also just get buds with volume adjustment. This iPod is amazing! Safari on here is so user friendly!
your loss to cancel

How did you manage that? Mine hasn't shipped, the ETA has slipped back a few days, and whenever I phone them they just say "sorry, they're not due to be shipped until the 28th, try going to an apple store (I live hours away from any apple store, and when I was at one, they were sold out)

Well whatever the reason, it's still a great device and of course every device is going to have it's bad points, you just have to weigh it out and not be so critical to everything. I'm sure Apple is trying to appeal to the majority.

I am also having second thoughts. I live in Spain so No Apple Stores. I am beginning to wonder why I dont order a Hacked iPhone and cancel the order for the Touch. Unfortunately I have already paid for the Touch by Bank Transfer (very common here).

What should I do?

Yall know the shipped ones also have the screen issue, right? However it really isn't a bad issue at all, not really noticeable unless you look for it.

Nope, sorry... Mine has no screen issues at all... I ran all the tests and believe me, I am very very picky about my screens.

- Adjusting volume; I've realised that I'm always adjusting the volume between tracks (Sound Check simply doesn't work). With the touch I'll need to take it out of my pocket to do so. I don't want to do that at 11pm on a quiet tube train.
I've never thought about this one !! great point

I was reading in this forum of some people that were getting a discount for the delay. Discounts were varying. 25-100 off the price, $15 Apple credit, free overnight shipping. Then the next day after i called i started to see on here that people weren't getting anything anymore. I suppose i timed it right. I also think if you didn't order it within 24 hours of the announcement, they didn't do anything for you. I ordered it on the 5th around 4pm.

Apple really messed up with this iPod. Upsetting people who ordered it right away, iPods showing up in stores, bad screen, negative reviews because of the bad screens. It's too bad this beautiful little iPod is making a rough entry. Someone at Apple messed up.

I finally got my hands on an iPod Touch on Saturday at Regent Street and I was amazed how cheap it felt in my hand in comparison to an iPhone, and I was not impressed at all by the somewhat dim screen.

FWIW, I fully expected to be impressed by this device.

The ipod touches still aren't here in Belgium :(

I thought it felt solid and sturdy, but then I've never set eyes on an iPhone, so can't make the comparion.

??? Cheap??? Dim screen????
I think the iPod outdates the iPhone as far as design and feel. Also the screen is not dim, maybe the settings on the one you picked up in the store were messed with. There is a brightness adjustment in settings.
