Your first sentence in bold is undermined by your second.

There are minor differences between the Air 2 and Mini 4. Depending upon what you consider a "feature" they could be seen as identical except for screen size. What hardware is unique to the Air 2 that prevents the Mini 4 from performing the same tasks as the Air 2? (split-window? if so, that would be screen related).

If Apple remains consistent, then they'll bring support for the Pencil (and perhaps the mag connector) to the Air. Not immediately, but will eventually roll down to it just as the Air features rolled down to the Mini.

I was just speaking on the internals of the Air 2 compared to that of the Mini 4. Having a better clock speed & processor... Granted they can do practically the same task.

But in prior history... There has never been a specific accessory like the  Pencil that was made for iPads. I know that Apple tends to bring prior specs from the Air to the Mini, but Apple never had created something like the Pencil. There's gotta be some type of separation from the Air to the Pro that justifies spending 300 more for it. I think the Pencil would justify that.

But Apple surprised us when they released the Air & Mini 2 with the same internals... So, who knows.

If you have a great idea, simply you build that idea. If you have not idea take a old one and make it big, or small, or in different colors.
In other words: idea=Steve no idea=Tim

I returned mine and the pencil. I'll wait for an updated Air, which I actually like a lot. The Pro was just too big. I think it's a niche item (for artists?, and it's not like there are zillions of artists). And to top it off, they didn't even bother to make a decent desktop for it.

Merry Christmas!

That's what the extra screen real estate is for not the pencil.

Lol if you think Steve Jobs came up with the idea without Tim Cook and the army of designers and engineers at Apple...

Or they just make it thinner. They do this, and call it innovation?

That's a totally fair article, but I don't share the sentiment. Obviously the iPad Pro isn't an iPad Air, but I hug mine.

(Plus, I love to play with digital art, and the iPad Pro with the Pencil is way better than, and less expensive than, the least expensive Wacom tablet monitor.)

Why are you calling something like this moronic? "iPad Pro Sux" is moronic. And this isn't a rant, it is a detailed explanation of its flaws in a users life and is perfect for an apple forum.

But I agree with the post as the compromising product. I feel like a lot of people can/do benefit from the pencil from a graphics design standpoint; but other than that, the pro doesn't appeal to me in any real benefit over the air 2 as of current. It performs better and faster, but that doesn't mean that the air 2 can now no longer perform those tasks at all.

I think/hope iOS10 will really make the pro differentiate itself from the other iPads. I'd really like an iPad to replace my laptop, but the pro didn't offer me anything that my air 2 or mini 4 couldn't do already (for my needs). For me its all software related, and Id really like to see apple expand this product to its full potential.

Actually it is moronic because it's marketing click bait pretending to be an article and trying to sell you something else. The basic premise of the article is to sell you on anti-Apple comments to get you to buy non-Apple shares. Check the end of the article. They are happy to be pro-Apple when they want to sell you shares that relate to Apple doing well. So in short, it's a load of marketing crap, disguised as an article to get people to click on it and read it.

But to pull the article to pieces is pretty easy:

1. He complains that the device isn't good for productivity but didn't buy a keyboard. This would be a problem even if you bought a SP4
2. He complains about using it to write an article, but the article in question is so short, it could have been written on a phone and doesn't have any pictures so it would actually be easy to accomplish on a phone.
3. He then complains about it as a media consumption device because it's too big. I'm not sure if he got confused when he saw that 13" was larger than 10", maybe he lives in a country where that is smaller, but I'm guessing most people would have noticed that was larger before they ordered it so it wouldn't be a problem, or they would know it's a problem before they bought it.
