That sucks. Just return it and buy a physically bigger piece of crap on another network.

Or droid incredible.:p

I just went to apples website after waiting a while. I was expecting them to release something to fix the problem. What did they put out?

Why a few bumper for your iphone and a nice 3 min video of how they test their devices and than another ground on how other phones do the same thing.

That is not like apple to just throw something like a bumper for a problem. It is crap to people that love apple. I mean come on do all of you really want a protector on just for the band?

I will stick with my incredible because man I love it. Except for the crappy games that is FTL.

Moral of this story: stop buying crap phones from the crappiest network on this planet.

Verizon ftw

resetting itself and picking up other peoples conversations
Don't believe that for a second. If there is a fault with the phone, have it replaced. Phones are intended to pick up other peoples conversations when you call them.

could have my friend email this crap forum to verify what happened
Don't bother. The forum isn't crap.

California where you have 10 bars on every street corner.
This sounds a bit far fetched to me... I believe it goes up to 5 bars.

In rural areas it does not work as Apple intended.
That's the network you should be blaming.

I wish I had my 3gs back
Get a 3GS then.

Happy to Help :)
I love my iPhone 4. If I didn't I would take it back.

Just wondering, have you ever been to California? Considering that Cupertino is where Apple HQ is, I assume that's where they test. That's near SF, which has horrible ATT service, and is even closer to Santa Clara, where I get horrendous coverage.

AT&T's coverage in Cupertino is better than 99% of the rest of the country.

Wonder why that could be?

wow sorry to hear that man. I've had the total opposite experience with the iphone 4... I got the phone a couple of weeks after release date so maybe I got a batch with a hardware redesign or something. But my service has been outstanding and the phone is super fast and responsive. No problems at all here.

But in your case the positive is that there are a lot of great devices out there. One thing Apple has done right is to force other manufacturers in the US to step up their game and innovate better phones.

Verizon sucks here, so no thanks.

I have five bars all the time with AT&T, at work and at home. And yes, I have an iPhone 4.

My 2 cents:

The ip4 reception is way worse thany my 3GS in the same places. I have none of the other issues except grip of death.

I do plan on getting it exhanged in the fall when I can be sure I get a phone with all the fixes that Apple is making but not reporting.

Well, bought the phone like everyone else and had the drop call and weak signal problem. Well updated the software and now it will not stay on and drops calls kike no other. I called my buddy earlier today and he heard my voicemail instead of my voice. This joker is going right back to ATT cause this phone is a disgrace and should never ever have been released. It is the worse phone apple has ever produced and they need to do something for all those that were loyal to their brand. I bought the phone thinking it would be up to Apples reputation. So, I sold my old 3GS and went all in with this phone. WRONG,,,, this phone is crap and I will be getting out of it if I can. They should never have released this piece of crap.

I call BS on a number of fronts, highly doubt you have one. Pic's or rececipt, specifically the one where you retunred hte phone, otherwise did not happen. There is no way in hell the person you called heard you voicemail, it is not possible under any condition.

+1 on the voicemail

this cracked me up though. isn't cali a trouble area when it come to reception and att?

They tested this thing in California where you have 10 bars on every street corner.

Yep, the iPhone 4 IS a big piece of crap. I totally agree with you, it's a disgrace and Apple should be ashamed.

It's DEFINATELY MUCH worse than the 3G / 3GS in terms of reception - anyone in a low signal area is basically ****ed. Not being able to hold it in your left hand and call / browse the net in a low signal area is just disgraceful.

Mine went back, take yours back too!

Screw Apple and screw all the fanboys on this thread claiming its the best **** ever... it's not.

Prove it, that you took it back- lets see teh receipt or email showing that you returned the phone. No one, who claimes to have returned them has prodcued anything to prove their case.

He's right

I have been using Apple products for around 9 years. Had the original iMac, have a Macintosh Classic, have 2 eMacs, a Macbook Pro, 2 iPhone 3G and an iPhone 3GS. These are all excellent products where there is a balance between industrial design, engineering and software.

With the iPhone 4 which I have recently purchased, this balance is off. I mean, who makes a portable device prone to dropping, sliding and leaving on desks and tables out of GLASS??? An then call it durable??? FAIL.

Ok, tick for A4 processor. Cross for terrible WiFi hardware. Tick for screen. Cross for iOS 4.0

So yes, I agree, by Apple standards, this IS a piece of crap. You fan boys who think otherwise need to check yourselves.

Good job bumping a 4 month old thread

Yeah only smart people have iPhones -- blah blah blah

I bought the phone and I do not live in a 5 bar area to begin with more like a 2 - 3 bar area. My 3gs worked good but this thing has been nothing but trouble resetting itself and picking up other peoples conversations and I could have my friend email this crap forum to verify what happened -- he called me back and told me what was going on. Apple should never have released this turd wagon. They tested this thing in California where you have 10 bars on every street corner. In rural areas it does not work as Apple intended. Ahh, so only tested the iPhone 4 in California but they tested the iPhone 3GS in rural areas specifically. That makes perfect sense.

And btw, we don't have 10 bars all over the place and we also have rural areas.

If you don't want an iPhone 4, don't buy it....

If you bought one and you don't like it...bring it back...

Does Apple get lobbied by case manufacturers? They have aluminum for bigger devices like MacBook and iPad, but have fragile materials like polished stainless steel and glass for iPod touch and iPhone 4.
