If you don't want an iPhone 4, don't buy it....

If you bought one and you don't like it...bring it back...

That's a real inconvenience. I was thinking of that but I have invested a lot in apps, etc. I like the OS (now with 4.1) and I like the speed of the A4. I guess I could go back to a 3GS but it doesn't do facetime. It's like your locked into an upgrade path and your a victim of their mistakes. I'm just upset that after all these years, they come out with something illogical.

I know this thread is 4 pages in, and i dont really feel like reading it all right now. but on the title alone...

"Why I think the iPhone 4 is a big piece of crap?"

i wonder, why do people make threads like this? AND why the hell is it a question???

What do you mean by 'illogical'?

Man, there are still threads like this around? I thought everybody finally saw how HORRIBLE the iPhone 4 was and stopped buying it... Oh wait!!!
This is a fantastic phone and I wouldn't trade it for an android machine for anything. Apple is building a great ecosystem for iPad, iPhone and Mac, and so far they have given me the best customer experience. Their stores, their customer service... It all WORKS for me.. I'm not a fanboi, just a satisfied customer who likes GOOD products.

Sounds like you have more beef with AT&T than Apple. And I really don't think the voicemail thing is even possible.. but whatever you say, I guess. Sorry you feel that way though, I love this phone, but if you hate it so much, return it :)

This thread is as useful as the "Iphone owners that weren't meant to be." I don't think complaining about it here will make your phone work better man. Good luck anyways...

No one cares about why you think the iPhone 4 is a big piece of crap.

If you have a problem go to Apple/your carrier and if they can't help you to satisfaction, return the phone and buy something else.

Well, bought the phone like everyone else and had the drop call and weak signal problem. Well updated the software and now it will not stay on and drops calls kike no other. I called my buddy earlier today and he heard my voicemail instead of my voice. This joker is going right back to ATT cause this phone is a disgrace and should never ever have been released. It is the worse phone apple has ever produced and they need to do something for all those that were loyal to their brand. I bought the phone thinking it would be up to Apples reputation. So, I sold my old 3GS and went all in with this phone. WRONG,,,, this phone is crap and I will be getting out of it if I can. They should never have released this piece of crap.

You know what? I'm on my third iPhone 4 (for different reasons) and I've never had this issue. I live in England and I don't know anyone here who has it either. I'm not saying you're a liar but it just leads me to think that maybe it has something to do with the network, too.

I'm not the biggest fan of iPhones, but I have a couple of friends with iPhone 4's and one's on his 4th phone and and the other's on his 6th phone. To me, that is ridiculous and kinda agree with the OP.

Antenna issues, no matter how many labs they have setup it IS an issue with some and they haven't fixed it. (Bumpers??? Please that's totally and utterly lame).

Time / Alarm issues... again inexcusable and they STILL haven't fixed it.

Proximity issues (on some handsets) this seems pretty widespread, they've fixed some but not all, clearly some are affected by hardware.

To me, people see the iPhone with rose tinted glasses.

Considering how many iPhone 4's were sold, it's crazy to not expect some might have some problems or a few bugs. I'm on my 4th and I don't think any less of the Iphone because the first one was incredible and my current one is incredible, so I think it's worth going through the trouble with the buggy ones to find one that works great, but it may not be for you. :(

This is no different than any other device, or thing. I owned a Ford [once]; it was a total POS in my opinion. It was plagued with issues from the day I bought it. Returned for all kinds of various issues, none related to the other. In the end, I finally was rid of it, and have never owned another of their cars/trucks. However, I know of a number of people who swear by them. Love them, and have never had an issue with them. They run well, and they're devoted Ford buyers, only buying Ford cars/trucks.

In the end, it's personal choice. If you really don't like it, then get rid of it and go to another device/carrier, and move on.

Yeah well, I have also been reading these types of posts since the iP4 came out, and haven't said much about it. Do I like my iP4....absolutely.

Do I think it is reliable as a phone....absolutely not. I cannot count how many times I have answered a call and get dead air in return. Then I have to start playing phone tag, because when I call back, I get the other persons voice mail, because they are trying to call me back at the same time (very ******* aggrivating). It has gotten to the point where I purposely let the phone ring a few more times before answering, just in case it makes a difference (Stupid). I have lost count how many times I initiate a call and get "calling moble" rather than connecting.....only to receive a call back from someone stating "I see that you called me". It doesn't matter what type of area I am in, 5 bars or 2 ...it seems like it is 50/50 of the above happening.

I deal with, but am not in the slightest bit happy. I deal with it because I don't want to loose the other features/capability that the iP4 brings to the table. My guess is there are a lot more people like me out there. It's like the PRSI forum here on MR. Reading those forums, you would think that everyone was to the left of center, when the reality is a majority of people don't bother responding because they have better things to do with their time.

Didn't read the thread, (not that i've got anything against the OPs sentiments, I think my IP4 is a load of **** too, but I'm starting to appreciate it more)

but I must ask, why did you end the title of your post with a question mark? Are you unsure that you think your iphone 4 is a piece of crap? lolol it's like "Hmmmmm, I MIGHT think my iphone 4 is a piece of crap".

Buy an Android phone on the same network then. I have a feeling your friends are going to hear your voicemail again.

I have a 3GS, Iphone 4, Captivate and Aria. Imho the 3GS is the best built best working phone of the bunch.

The fact that glass is meant to be durable. Glass is good for seeing through. Not for the encasement of a portable device.

Durability is a relative term. For most people, the glass would be comparably durable to most plastics (in that if you drop either a plastic phone or a glass-shelled phone you run the risk of breaking it). On the upside, using glass is FAR more environmentally friendly than using plastic. In any event, there is nothing inherently "illogical" about using glass for the shell of a product that isn't designed to be dropped in the first place.

Edit: I don't meant to be rude, but you must remember that the "glass" on the iPhone is not your run of the mill glass. It's a chemically altered glass - aluminosilicate glass - the same type of material used on high speed trains and helicopters. It's not house window glass or what your water glass is made out of.
