Why iOS needs less RAM compared to Android

If the speed has improved, that does help show that the software has been more optimized. You are not seeing the lag and stutters of yesteryear either. Thats showing it to me. Look at the task switching etc.....its showing better optimization and less animation lag. All of this can be seen in this video.

k well just so you know the Galaxy S8 got demolished by the iPhone 6s in that same speed test you love posting about:

tell me more about how the lag and stutters are of yesteryear and how Samsung "finally cracked it" while being beaten by over-two-year-old hardware

i cant wait to hear the excuses, such as "oh but that S8 was early before all the updates" or the "yeah the s8 was bad but the note 8 is a tooootally different story" lie that i've been dumb enough to fall for several times now each time i went out and tried one of these awful korean knockoffs

Actually it is valid. iOS 11 is in its infancy, I'm fairly confident whatever version of Android Samsung is running is older than 3 weeks old. You can't compare a brand new unoptimized iOS version against what is likely to be one of the last updates the S8 receives.

Like I said, if is running iOS 10 that is now invalidated since it should be running iOS 11 in this present day. That doesn't take away the fact the S8 has had a major software update a few weeks ago either so I'm sure the S8 can easily take on even the iPhone 8.

No it doesnt. The S8 runs smooth enough on 4 GB ram. That 6 gb Ram on the Note 8 becomes more handy since you multitask even more on the Note 8 than any other phone. Furthermore, some of us use DeX to turn our mobile device into a PC on the Note 8 which makes the experience even more smoother due to the extra ram.

That extra ram is not just to make the note 8 smooth, I believe the smoothness of the UX was due to the updated Samsung Experience UX (SOFTWARE) and not even the ram. The ram just allows us to hold more in memory. Thanks to it I can hold over 20 apps into memory and over 20 browser tabs without any reloads. Far more than you can do in Safari on iOS and any of your other iOS apps without reloading. I'm using my Note 8 as a fully functional productive device with S pen included to enhance that productivity. You cannot ask for anymore from a device that has this feature set and does a good job at it.

I also have a Note 8, it's an awesome phone but why are you using it as a computer? Also, I don't get the purpose of the Dex, why would I dedicate a mouse, keyboard, monitor and desk space to a mobile OS? It kind of reminds me of Motorola's goofy lapdock/webtop fail.

Basically it's for this super common scenario where you just happen to have no computer, but a monitor, mouse, keyboard, and a desire to look the coolest you can possibly look while doing no real productive work of any value whatsoever.

It really is a killer selling point if you think about it

i've always stuck by phonebuff. not because iPhone usually won, but because they're as scientific about it as it gets. i've fully accepted that the note 8 is faster than iphone 8 running ios 11.0.
