Not much slower than the iPhone 4 when running iOS 5 or 6. But honestly the untethered iOS 6.1 jailbreak I have on mine is amazing. Love it.

No lies. The extra 200Mhz and 256MB of ram doesn't make iOS 5 or 6 any faster on the 4 than the 3Gs. Gaming of course takes a big hit because of the 4's underpowered GPU. And the 6.1 untethered jailbreak on the old bootrom 3Gs isn't a lie. It's been around for a long time. Way back since 2010 actually, but on iOS 4.0+.

The 3G is very slow on iOS 4.2.1, but the 3GS is still speedy on iOS 5 and 6.
Comparable to the 4.

I have the 3G, 3GS, 4 and 4S so I would know.

Lol I had the 3GS and I restored it down to 4.1 because its must faster on vanilla iOS 4 than jailbroken 5.1.1 and vanilla iOS 6 trust me i still have it 😀

Once you buy an iPhone 5 and use it (even stock) you will never be happy using the iPhone 4 again (even jailbroken and hacked to your heart's content).

Why does it matter to you? Your logic of being the best iPhone is an exploit that can be JB therefore iPhone 1 (forever JB & unlock) and old bootrom 3GS (forever untether JB) is the best.
