Or better yet call the store and ask?
I've been to the mall at Southpoint. This simply isn't true.
I'm not the friend that is going to call the store and then tell him "YOU ARE A LIAR, I CALLED THE STORE!" Not my style which is why I wanted to ask here. I thought (knowing how much integrity he has) that he was 100% not lying and if there was in fact a small quantities available, then all would be settled. Instead, the masses here think I'm trolling. Unbelievable.I'm sure he misunderstood the sales rep who was probably telling him that he could go online right then and there and purchase the watch. Either that, or the sales rep is the most uninformed sales rep in the history of the Apple Store. Also, if you're so worried about everyone calling you out on it, all you have to do is call the store and ask them yourself instead of hearing it second hand.
Exactly what I thought. It doesn't much matter whether your friend is having you on or he misunderstood the sales person as there are no Watches for sale at any Apple Store anywhere on planet earth, period.
It's not just men who read this forum, fyi.

From what I read online there IS stock available at some places as I saw a guy from The Verge bought one at a "reseller".

Seriously, that is what you have issue with? What would you prefer? Ladies and Gents? I used fellas as a casual identifier as in "a group of people"

There are a few boutiques around the world selling them, but not the actual Apple Stores.
The only way I could see this happening is if a customer returned a watch new in box. Then, it would become store inventory and would be sellable. But I can't imagine they would offer it to a customer; they would not want to create any word-of-mouth that watches are available in store. Besides, an employee would snatch it up first.

In my experience every item returned, whether it's new in box or not, is opened for inspection. As far as I know Apple does not recycle returns to sell as new. I have personally returned new in box items and they have opened it in front of me and inspected it.
Nobody is saying you have to call your friend out on it. Just call the store and see how wrong you are/he is for the sake of YOUR integrity. You're the one coming on here spreading absolutely false rumors based on incorrect second hand information.
And yes, they were available at "select retail boutiques", like 5 in the entire world. Those of us who are devout Macrumors article/forum readers, unlike yourself, already knew this.
My integrity? Seriously? My integrity is just fine. My skin is thick and can handle all the childish attacks. I came here to ask a serious question and got just the opposite I expected. No, I'm not a devout MacRumors reader so there is no way I would know this. Hence, the reason I asked. Instead, I have been treated like many anonymous internet forum treat the non-regulars. Not to worry, I won't come back again the future to ask such stupid questions that I would have already known the answer to had I spent copious amounts of time here like the rest that have taken great pleasure in being anything other than helpful.
Back to work for me. Not sure how to close the thread as I clearly violated the unwritten protocol of the forum so I'll just unsubscribe and let y'all have at it.
