I said that this being a first world problem is beyond the point, I didn't say "it's not a first world problem". Clearly it is, as is almost everything else discussed on a consumer products forum.

I'm also glad that it makes you "feel sick" because I don't sit around here 24/7 praising Apple all day long like you would like me to. It's also somewhat an ironic accusation given that i'm heavily invested in Apple products myself, and and pretty happy with the newly announced product line up .

You just need to calm down a bit and accept that people are always going to be sceptical and critical on any consumer product forum. If there's something I like about a product, i'll post about it, if there's something I don't like about a product i'll post about it. I do both here all the time. It's people like you that make a mountain out of a molehill and think this is some holy war between Apple supporters and haters.

As per bolded text, you claim this is not "about [...] first world problems", but then immediately talk about low standards referring back to my opening post about camera (of a tablet), price (of a premium product/Apple), colour, and TouchID.

It's not about entitlement or first world problems. If everyone had such low, forgiving standards such as yourself, we would all have crap products because there would be no real incentive for these companies to compete and innovate.

I fail to see how these "features" are not first world problems. I guess problems with colour, TouchID, and a better low light camera isn't a first world problem...

Only odd thing about today was them keeping the iPad 2 around. As for color, who cares most people put a case on there ipad and phones. Get a different color case if you want a different color.

Yeah, what's up with that? The iPad 2 is such a tank. It's outlasting them all.

The vast majority probably aren't complaining.

As with anything, the posting is usually by those who have something to whine about.

I understand if people want to discuss why certain technologies aren't in certain devices, but most of these posts are whiners more than people of logical discussion.

Yeah, I agree with you. Expectation is just too hard to beat. It also varies so greatly from person to person, that it seems inevitable that someone complains.

This is exactly why I had to post this ironic thread about complaining. Thank you for pointing this out.

I personally was hoping for the plastic back like on the newer gen iPods.
I think they're holding out til next year for that so they can promote OMG it's 40% lighter than last year again when they could have lowered production cost and weight on this go around. I would still pay the same amount but have a lighter tablet. I guess I'll stick with my ipad2 for another year - I wasn't going to get rid of it but I wont be rushing out to buy the newest ipad this year.

Lack of innovation seems to be hurting the line.

On the other hand it is a real shame they left out the touch sensor, it will probably eventually be used to switch between user profiles. Now imagine that on an iPad!

Consumers can only blame themselves though. The Mini was ripped on announcement for being underspec'd and overpriced....then flew off the shelves.

I'm thanking consumers for precisely that (and maybe this was your point). Apple's original vision of the mini was that of low cost alternative. I wanted small enough to put up with the shortcomings and got the v1. But the raging popularity of the 8 inch size changed apple's mind and now the v2 has full parity with the 10 inch. Now we get small and powerful!

So apple was less successful 10-15 years ago because their customer's then were less demanding?

As I have said many times, I'm not saying keep your opinions to yourself. I'm saying stop whining.

This is different. This is a discussion forum. You should discuss the products comparing past products, to current products, or current products to rival products. Don't whine about things that were rumoured or that exist in a different category of product and complain that it's not in THIS product. That's just unrealistic. iPhone is a different category of product, so therefore, I'm not surprised, or traumatised by the fact that the new iPads don't have touchID.

Maybe these new features were not ready in time?

iPad needed a redesign. If people are disappointed this year I bet last year they were more annoyed as iPad 4 offered very little
over IPad 3.

iPad will have a proper new design and feel like a new product first time since 2011 when iPad 2 launched. Those new apps
or features people hoped for may come on IOS8.

People should know ipad only gets small updates anyway it's a tablet not a phone. This new design is better than any finger print gimmick or pixel in a camera. I have a 5S and the finger print is well over rated. This new design is long over due so I will enjoy it.
