I love my silver. Had the gold with 11Pro and this is the best white/silver they have yet.
The blue back is nice, but the sides don’t give that nice shiny look @ display edges on front

Welcome to the forum tazbrews.

I too have an XS, a silver XS. The phone is far from on its last legs, it's absolutely as-new and I'm seeing 96% battery health, but that doesn't stop me itching for a new one at the moment. We only get one trip through life, am I right? You surprise me by saying silver is not a popular iPhone colour because for me that and graphite (space grey) are the only colours for a man's tech! It's all a matter of personal taste. Do you think a Pro will be different enough to the XS to feel like an upgrade? I'm considering the Pro Max for that reason.
For sure, its a lovely upgrade even from my 11p

I’d get silver if I’m in the market for a Pro.
I got the black mini instead. Wasn’t sure with the pearl pinky white.

Went for black on my 12 for a change. My 11 was White but yeah, wasn't keen on the 12 White with its pinkish undertones. The 12 pros silver is actually a lot more "white" than the 12. It would be between silver or graphite for me. I like the pros pacific blue but I would get sick of any non neutral color option pretty quick.

Exactly. I would love non neutral color as well for the 12 such as the green or even blue. But I’m planning to use my mini for at least 3 years. So neutral is best to avoid boredom. Really wish the white is pure white.

I had a silver iPhone X for three years and loved it but I wanted a change this year though and went for the Pacific Blue. I might get a silver again when the time comes unless another fun color comes out. Purple would be awesome.

Well that’s a good thing when you want an iPhone quickly. The least popular can be obtained much faster. One post mentioned that men gravitate towards darker colored iPhones, not me. I have the silver 12 pro and the gold iPhone 12 Pro Max. Graphite and Blue are way too dark. Dark colors are depressing and they don’t show off the new design very well. Everything is dark. Especially around the new cameras and LIDAR. So yeah, get a silver or gold. Those colors won’t show wounds as bad as a dark color. But I always use a case.

I don't care what colour the metal case is, I just want to avoid white bezels, which seem to come with the lighter metal colour choice anyways. Not so much the iPhone these days, but you can see it on the iPads. A screen inside a black frame always looks better to me, so I'll start there and base my choice range on that.

Some deeply unscientific research here. As I write this Amazon UK are showing 16 iPhone 12 Pro Max reviews from this month of February, all by confirmed purchasers. The colour breakdown is:

Pacific Blue 10
Silver 3
Graphite 2
Gold 1

Make of that what you will, it does seem PB is pick of the pops.

Last year proved to be different for majority of users who preordered the Pacific Blue. You were able to get all storage sizes for a few days or week or 2 after preorder. I was so surprised when I was able to get in on Apple 10 minutes after it went live and still got my Pacific Blue on launch day.

I just typed in Youtube research bar:
iPhone 12 Pro Silver unboxing -> most of thumbnails are women/girls
iPhone 12 Pro Pacifique Blue unboxing -> mostly men
iPhone 12 Pro Graphite -> mostly men

This is true...
Not being a girl, owning a Silver Pro Max, thinking about getting the pink Airpods Max makes it even worse then, I suppose. But it will match with my light green shoes for sure.

I think, I can live with that. 😎

Oh - there is one big advantage: The silver ones are always in stock, while you have to wait for the other colors. Too bad for my color choice of the Airpods Max...

I always go on Silver/white too and i m a male as well lol
But its kinda funny when i m trying to sell my Apple devices in silver/white, its less popular than someone who is selling exact same device at higher price but in space grey!
That's the downside when you choose an unpopular color (silver is still classic color tho, not too fancy either)

My view of it is that silver/white is neither as classic/non-descript as black/dark gray nor as interesting/vibrant as gold/blue/etc. At least that's the way I've felt about the white/silver iphones I've owned in the past (so I don't get them anymore).

Silver is not popular among male audience
Silver is also misleading color name, its more white than silver, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra or Huawei P40 have real Silver color
But from what i have seen:
  • Men mostly target black and dark color, that why new iPhone 12 color, Blue, is so popular
  • Men prefers dark grey over silver like space grey/graphite, i would say 90 or 95% will buy space grey Macbook over silver Macbook
  • In the other hands, women target white/pink/silver more often than men
  • Dark grey or dark color does match better with black/dark color
  • Silver color does match better with white or lighter color
Its my favorite color, silver is pure aluminium which is often referred as ''professional''
Apple popularized space grey and for most of Apple users, its will buy other devices according it, in order to match color (space grey or dark iPhone, Apple watch, Macbook, hubs and accessories...)
BUT Apple whole ecosystem is not based on black or darker color, its white
First iPod was white (and silver!), cables are white...
White does match perfectly with silver color (or aluminium)
First Macbook Air + white cable/charger
Airpods are not black/spacegrey either but white!
I am a person who also likes to match color for my devices, i embraces Apple design philosophy -> so i stay silver/white team (before Apple, i was like 100% black team lol)
In this forum which most of users are male, its pretty normal to observe silver will be not popular at all
Now go on whatever forum which the vast majority of audience would be female, you will be surprised silver/white/pink/gold will get their favor
Anyway this year, i hesitated so much between getting an iPhone 12 Mini White vs Black, i eventually picked white!
I even added some silver on my case/camera lens protector to be fully a silver/white iPhone!
I have also a silver iPad Mini (but with chocolate dark brown cover lol), white Airpods Pro with white silicone case
I gonna buy next Macbook Air ARM with silver color as well lol
Surprised that you would alter the design by modding it with a camera protector, if youre an embracer of Apple's design philosophy.

Silver and Gold look the best. You can see the design of the iPhone nicely. Graphite and pacific blue are too dark and you can barely see the cameras unless light is reflected from that area.

However, the color of the iPhone is not gender specific! Get what you want. I have the gold 12 pro max and the silver 12 pro. My wife has the Blue 12 pro. Yes we both use cases so it doesn’t matter what color it is if it’s covered up (except for the camera area). Not many cases go well with blue and graphite. When I get home from work, I like to remove the cases and admire the iPhones. If you haven’t noticed, Apple’s theme is white. White retail boxes, white EarPods, white, white, etc. so silver is for everyone, so is gold. I’ve seen gold teeth in men’s mouths, not black or pacific blue LOL. It’s called bling.

Its a mix between iPhone 12 (best design 2020) and Galaxy S21 (best design 2021)!
Next step, will buy new case and hide Apple logo haha
To be honest, its just for aesthetic, i like silver color and iPhone 12 Mini isnt silver but white, i found quite funny to sightly tweak the design and add some silver in iPhone 12 Mini White (12 Pro Silver isnt silver either as i previously said)

I’ve had the black / space gray since the iPhone 5. I just wanted a change this year. Went with the silver 12 pro. Really enjoying it so far.

Do share some pics. I’d love contrasty colors between camera module and back case.
