that i can understand.

I do miss wider + real estate but can give it up.
I don’t even think i need a bigger size X atm.
I can read ok with my older eyes because the crispness and contrast really help.

Because Apple say it’s right means it’s a given?
This is the mindset of some Apple device users, they truly believe Apple can do no wrong. They refuse to accept another manufacturer could possibly do something better. Im sure if Apple told them to jump off a cliff they would agree its a good idea....

Agree. I love Apple products but don’t by in to this nonsense that’s Apple knows best.

And in terms of my earlier statement, the HW in the X is outstanding, it’s iOS that is stale and is in need of a overhaul.

Another things, the swiping between apps could easier be implemented on all other models burn Apple save it for the X to sell more.

Some of the functionally you can get by JB is ultra impressive but Apple won’t allow it because they know best! Nothing saying it’s all good but there are some impressive UI options.

The only thing I dislike about the home screen is the way you have to access the Control Panel. I use it all the time one handed with the 8 plus for when I need to switch on lights etc via HomeKit so the drag down from top right ends up as a two handed task.

It would be good if they created a 3D Touch like the multitasking on the 8plus left edge, but in the bottom edge instead.

for me atm, no matter how much Apple can do wrong,
it's still far better than Android, no matter how new the OS is.

I now see that the real estate could be orginized much better to feel wider.
Firstly, the top icons can be lifted up a few mm to fit nicer at the top and save more space below.
But the major thing is having more space between the apps icons and have them all placed wider to the sides edges so the home screen would feel less squeezed and narrow. I don’t think there’s anything preventing it.

The good thing it could still be fixed i guess.

Thoughts?

The entire home screen is irritating with its rubber banding fixed grid optimization. Given the hassle and tedium of arranging (and keeping arranged) apps in such a setting — coupled with removal of app management in iTunes — it’s clear that Apple doesn’t really expect you to browse your apps. You’d think they could at least provide a default organization and navigation based on app categories.

Now that the X is here, I hope they put some effort into the home screen. It’s only been the same for what, 10 years? That’s a long scrum.
