Like said before by longofest/Q: the policy of Apple stores isn't to 'kick-out' people for just visiting MR.. They must seen you do that's not allowed .. e.g. Myspace.com / taking pics of their in-store software maintenance system or pr0n visiting .. That's the three situations that i know of to yourself kicked-out of the store ..

Anything else is fair game .. There was a customer in 5th Ave :apple: store that wrote a book and brought in her own food/drink while working on the book...

I think you mean ThinkSecret, AppleInsider hasn't gone anywhere.

ThinkSecret didn't get closed down by Apple either. Apple paid off the site owner to take it down.

yes. you're correct. color me confused when i read the first post

and along with what everyone else said. the MR community is strong and pretty helpful in comparison to others. and has been mentioned, rumors don't break here, just reported on.

i see this site as a mac forum, with those rumor things on the side. except of course during the times of macworld, wwdc, paris expo, and other apple announcements.

This is a Mac forum?

Dammit! I knew there was something strange about this place!

EDIT: To be honest, I joined MR because of the stellar rumor reporting leading up to the release of the G5 at WWDC 2003. It still feels like a rumor site first for me.

Every day there are LOADS of people who come in to play games, go on MySpace etc. and they dont get kicked out!!!!!

They should be kicked out. I was in the 5th Avenue Store in September last year, trying to buy a Macbook Pro and 5 iPod Touches, but I couldn't even get to look at them because there were so many idiots instant messaging, emailing, facebooking and random web browsing. It really irritated me. I couldn't even get close to an iPod or Mac. I just went to the SoHo store and got them, it's a far better store:)

Maybe you were hogging the computer and someone wanted to test it to buy ;)

I doubt it, he would have told me to use another computer, not kicked me out of the store. And I do agree that people who play games, use MySpace etc. should be kicked out, but not Apple fans!

I think they probably like that, feedback is always good.
I was referring to situations like this: Suppose Apple accidentally includes the specs for the "iPhone 2" on a tech support page, and MacRumors notices it, or somebody notices it and reports it to MacRumors. MacRumors would report it as news. Apple would be glad to know about the error so they can fix it, but they might not be happy that the details had been so widely publicized.

Sure, 5 million? It's believable. Maybe it's an inflated number; who knows? (I'd like to see the source for that number). Really, it's worth whatever some other party would be willing to pay for it, and any hard numbers are just guesses.

What makes me laugh is that people here actually thought Think Secret agreed to shut down in exchange for Apple paying "legal fees", and nothing more. Apparently even six figures from Apple wouldn't be enough to get this site to shut down. Crazy that people thought Think Secret would've voluntarily shut down for any less than that, especially since Apple had zero chance of winning a case against them.

This site has great easy-to-use-and-read forums; I guess the downside of that is that a significant percentage of people that post here aren't very smart.

And how does the store know who the fans are. Oh right. Really I think apple would prefer customers over game players or fans.
