None of us are really going to make a decision before we see the watch in person, I assume. I certainly won't.

Bu to OP I'd suggest considering the black sport for $399 and then wait a couple of weeks for a nice black after-market link band. You will probably be able to get a great band for $200. By the end of June I expect the market to be flooded with compatible bands at all price points.

Same here. Black SS with link bracelet, 38mm.

If I don't like it, I'll return it and either join the queue or wait a year. Pretty sure it'll be a keeper.

I'm getting the same, but 42mm, and I agree. I think I'll enjoy it a great deal.

I am. I know exactly which watch I'm buying.

Do you think you will swing by an Apple store between April 10 and the shipment date? Then you will see it in person and at least have a chance to cancel the order before it ships. That would seem prudent to do and Apple is giving you plenty of time to do that.

I plan on preordering as soon as possible. I might swing by a store to try on, but mostly to get preview of the watch rather than make a decision on what I want.

So, I wanted a Black stainless Steel on the classic strap. Looks like I can't get it.

anyone know? I'll be damned if I am paying $1200 for the one on bracelet.

I'll just get the space grey sport then.

They don't sell it because the combination doesn't match. Virtually all black stainless steel watches are sold with all black bands. The classic strap has a silver colored buckle, pin, and hinge mechanism.

This!!! I thought they'd make a classic buckle for the black stainless IN black stainless buckle and pin...

Personally I think the apple metal bracelet is hideous... Its so 80's digital stretchy band...

I think the link bracelet is fine. It's very similar what you might find on a Tissot or Movado, especially in black. It's the one I intend to get.

We will likely see additional band choices in the future. I wouldn't be surprised to see some in time for the holiday shopping season this fall.

Didn't a forum user say, Apple said you could customize Apple watch online with any fitting bracelet?
Meaning, I could order a Black SS w/ Black sport band?

Can you buy the space black by itself aka sportband?

Can you buy the space black ss by itself without the link wristband? I'm considering buying the space black but I only see it on a link configuration that costs 999... Omg

I'm certain all the bands are available for sale individually, perhaps with the exception of the ones from the Edition, you may have to special order it or call Apple for replacements, because gold are also used in those bands.

No you can't, Apple lists the exact combinations you can order on their online store, and the only SS Space Black watch package comes with the Space Black SS band. You could buy the Aluminum Space Black watch with a sport band, that's basically the only way to get Space Black for cheap enough that replacing the packaged band doesn't seem like a waste of money.

I think they were asking if you could buy the SS Space Black watch by itself - as in without a band.

Nope. It's only in the configuration with the matching link bracelet.

So the only configuration I can buy the space black is when I buy it with the link bracelet??? And no, I'm not willing to pay 1099

Ah ok.

I wondered a few days ago maybe if Apple is wiser to just have all the watch and bands separate. Let say they ran out of the space gray with black bands because it was so popular, and all they had left is the watch with green band, wouldn't they just limit themselves from making a sale?

So an example is you pick the aluminum case you want, plus the sports band in the color you want, and you pay $349 or $399, depending on whichever size you picked. That way, there's no "We only have the silver aluminum with green band in stock".

I'm sure that eventually they'll go away from this way of packaging the watch and bands.

I wanted the SS space black but I don't like the link bracelet. And i can't justify spending that type of money for something i don't like and I don't want to pay that much for the watch only to buy another band for it.

instead, for that amount of money I can buy two...a sport and a ss with milanese loop. one for everyday and one for going out.
