The app is still usable, even if not optimized for X.

Basically, that means the priority is low.

My bank app have not been updated for example.

Because of two things. The fugly notch and the fact iphone x users still only make up a small percentage of iphone users.

Because it's a low priority...only a couple million people have the X vs. hundreds of millions of users that don't.

I recall there being plenty of apps that weren't updated for a long time in those days.
Agreed.

4s to 5 was painfully slow, but, since the iPhone only got longer in that case, there really wasn't much of a rush. The same can be said for the X, considering it is only a longer version of the 6/7/8 UI / UX.

This is precisely why engineers are in constant battle with the business side of the organisation to try and make them understand that it is NOT - just a copy paste - job, as they put it more often.

Nailed it! It’s a constant battle we face on a daily basis. Some things never change in our world lol.

Almost all the best apps from the best developers are already updated to support iPhone X. I couldn't be more delighted with how quickly developers are embracing the notch.

Funny you mentioned. I was just thinking about Spotify this morning after updating to the latest. I’m surprised they are not updated yet lol. I guess we just need to be more patient. I would rather they do it right then rush it out with issues.
Apple Music is updated. Just cancel Spotify and switch.

I've got a bank app that hasn't been optimized for the Plus let alone the X. Yet they have rolled out a number of software updates over the years. Just nothing on screen ratios at all.

These banks are run by huge bureaucratic companies that are slow to make any decisions, especially software decisions. Also I expect any change to banking software goes through weeks of security checks before being released. It sucks but it's just how it is.

1. Developers just doing it for the "fun" and may not make big bucks. Buying an X might not be a priority.
2. Because most developers don't get to the front of the line, they have to wait just like everyone else.
3. Large companies have procedures, they don't just code, push and pray.

What could possibly be a priority to a single app developers other then taking care of this app?
Being on a phone with customers dealing with transaction details?

Maybe their real day job. For most, iOS software development is a hobby. Not something they make money off of.

I was talking about bank app developers specifically. The one that probably millions of customers use everyday.

No, but your balance seem to be well optimised for the iPhone X

See, this is just it, those that have held jobs will understand this. Your boss requires you to get a project/report done for x days, it's required because a new item is coming into production or a change of product or new customer coming in and needs info. Are you going to give your boss some BS excuse why this can't be done when requested, of course not because your job is important to you and you don't want to loose it.

But when it comes to companies/businesses that know a new product is coming out, it takes them months to update their apps/software. If delays are not accepted in your work place, why do you accept delays from companies/businesses to update their apps within a timely manner? I don't and will move my business elsewhere to those who value their customers.

If a bank expects their customers to use their phone app then that bank should update their app to work on the new phone within a few weeks of the new phone being released. Apple stated updating apps to the new iphone X would take only a few hours so there is no excuse for the bank not to update the app within a few weeks, not months and months later.

If you defend such behavior then you have no right to complain about other things being delayed, like mail or food deliveries, or late food in a restaurant, because that's just how things work in life, well according to the defenders of delays.

for the record.. that's not real.
i'm pretty sure most people get it that i photoshopped* the balance but for anyone that may still be wondering.. it's fake 😉

It was a joke. No sane person would post it's own bank balance (particularly large balance) on a forum board.
