Compatibility. What makes them mac better is that the software is designed to work exactly with that hardware. So if you are a professional in the creative industry and something goes wrong [which is much less likely because the hardware and software are designed to have synergy], the problem is more easily resolved. Software or hardware can still go wrong, but in general compatibility errors do not apply.
For creative computer users macs also have excellent support by companies such digidesign, adobe etc. and of course :apple:.
For power users who are more interested in software authoring Linux is a much better choice. For example I use my mac to produce radio segments and stream my student radios feed from ubuntu server and favor linux in any networking role. Linux has awful support for firewire based interfaces (damned manufacturers) and macs are less powerful and moreover too expensive for networking on this scale.
Around the studio we have several computers for web browsing and general use which run XP because everyone can use XP.
If you don't use macs to do the sort of thing I mentioned here then I wouldn't expect you to understand the kind of frustrations mac os x was built to alleviate.
