I'm not sure how the OP can ask how there hasn't been any rumors. There are rumors everywhere.

And I find it hard to believe a company that has amassed $76 billion dollars, most of it in the last 4 years, has simply run out of ideas.

Larger screen & speed bumps aren´t new ideas, so I´d say they have run out of ideas, but we´ll see, I hope they will suprise us with something...

There are few rumors yes (larger screen & speed bumps), but nothing compared to previous iPhone releases.

Agreed

Macrumors should be picking up the pace in August and show all of the rumors availible.

What features the iPhone 5 might have? I haven´t heard anything.

With previous iPhone releases there was always huge abundance of rumors about countless features what the iPhone could have. With iPhone 5, nothing. Silence.

Only something about a different design maybe (4" screen maybe) and a 8mpix camera. Boring! RAM and processor upgrades are no brainers of course.

Are we coming to a period where Apple just can´t do anything new with the iPhone anymore and are running out of ideas. Technology has come to a hold?

If not that, then at least the people have run out of ideas what the iPhone could have. This wasn´t the case before, always lots of ideas.

What are you on?

Got to admit Apple has done a bang up job of keeping the iPhone 5 secret. 'course my opinion is that's it's exactly the same as the iPhone 4 except for processor and camera. Not much to hide, really. Folks in the field could be using it right under our noses and we wouldn't know (or care, as the case may be).

You do realise that those things you listed are indeed rumours, right? Sorry if they're boring for you, but that's life.

With millions and millions unemployed alot of people have their mind on something other than a new phone.

If the iPhone 5 doesn't have a bigger screen I am not buying. I'll just keep my iPhone 4. I looked at some pictures on an HTC the other day that belong to a friend of mine and I was blown away by the size and clarity of the screen.

I am sure the software on the iPhone is better but damn they need to do something about the screen.

Why is it such a big deal that the iPhone needs a bigger screen? It doesn't mean it's a better phone.

Well that´s exactly my point. I can´t think even myself what they could do with the iPhone anymore. They pretty much did everything with the iPhone 4.

And the fact that they didn´t release the iPhone this summer proves also, they are running out of new technologies and need to delay the game.

I´m starting to think iPhone 5 could be first iPhone I´m going to skip. I mean what can they do with it anymore?

Few things that come to mind that they still could do:

-4G
-1080p video recording
-Better microphone(s) for audio recording, stereo!
-Desktop internet browser. I´m sick of the mobile browsing experience, it´s just horrible!

Well, it is the 5th iteration of an iPhone. A5 (maybe a6) chip, increase screen to 4 in, world phone (possibly sim-less), maybe a pico projector, nfc, duo mics, 1080p, 8 megapixel cam, color saturation enhancer, etc

Apple is barely able to crowbar an A5 chip in the iPhone 5 (and is having heat problems) and people keep talking about an A6 chip...

4" won't happen because it will require the phone go larger and apple just won't go there. Pluss the'll loose their precious retina moniker. (don't bore me with you'll be holding it further away because you won't)

/IMHO

No but more screen real estate. After trying out some of the new android phones I think a 4 inch screen is a must going back to playing with my iPod touch I find everything a little crammed.

I'm sure if they did an edge to edge display, it would be possible without drastically having to change the form factor.

I doubt this also myself. Apple has been criticizing 4" phones for years and saying 3,5" is the perfect size. And yeah, how would that work with the Retina Display?

So what is left? Pretty much nothing, except speed bumps and 8mpix camera.

I understand what you say, I have never tried an Android, so I can't say wether I agree or not.

1.Dual core processor should be a strong feature which should be offered by the next gen iPhone. We can expect the iPhone 5 to feature a pair of 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 cores.

2.Flash support that we are longing since ever.

3.Better battery life

4.PowerVR SGX545 chip for better graphics and 3D acceleration

5.iOS devices never gave an option to expand your memory, which should not be the case with iPhone 5

6.Manage your text messages and emails just by voice seems to be pretty amusing

7. 4G support

8. I Hope that iPhone 5 will offer something better like Video chat over cellular data networks rather than sticking to wifi.

9.Finger print recognition would save all iPhone owners a lot of time, just swipe your finger to unlock your phone. No password hassle or anything, just one touch and its done!

it will be awesome if we get all such features on new arrival of iPhone family!!! :):apple:

or the quad-code ARM need more time ? ... wasn't there a rumor about heat issue.

Ok; what is missing and every regular japanese mobile has since years the NFC ... I just hold it at the gate on the train station or bus and go in; checkin at the airport, paying my drinks and taxi ... but not really innovation; just a missing feature in iPhone.
Cable-less charging would be nice, too

are you guys typing in japanese and the site is translating?

Hardware things that could be added/improved upon in the future:
- Bigger screen
- LED indicator light
- Better antenna design
- Bigger battery
- Removable battery
- NFC
- Better camera
- Matte non-scratch finish
- Louder speaker
- Dual core processor
- Solar rechargeable battery
- More flash memory options
- Micro-Projector

Not saying that these will happen for the iPhone 5... just the OP is trying to justify the soon to be inferior iPhone 4 with faulty logic

"Nothing left to improve" is laughable :p

Do me a favor...name one "new" idea that Apple has come up with since the original iPhone.

It's not about coming up with something new...it's about coming up with something better.

October unfortunately.

Actually the most recent rumors on release dates are still in conflict with each other. Some are saying September, some October. It could go either way, although if it does come in September, it will be late September.

To the OP...

Here is your problem with this thread. You are not really wanting to know about rumors, you are wanting to know about leaked information. Obviously there are and have been plenty of rumors around every corner, so you couldn't be at a loss for rumors.

To answer the question you should have asked, there have been no leaks (that we are aware of) because Apple has gone to great lengths to make sure there are none. It was very anticlimactic at last year's reveal since we had already seen it. Apple wants to be the ones to first reveal the iPhone5.

For example, Apple introduced to the public the smartphone era, with capabilites of having the app store, mail, itunes, ipod, calendar, weather, etc all in one phone.

Exactly my point. The first iPhone was revolutionary. Since then, it's been, by the OP's standards, evolutionary.

Look, if you don't think that having a larger screen is a big enough change to be considered a "new" idea, then you can't really consider anything that Apple has done with the iPhone since its inception to be a "new" idea. Everything that they've done has been done before. They just did it better.
