Sleep is a complicates issue that can be addressed by every methods.

For general sleep issues Autosleep looks pretty good and I've just bought it.

My problem was snoring combined with an irritated wife with a sharp elbow.

Even cheaper (Free) is having someone with a stopwatch in the room with you as you happily snore away. Time the length of tine you simply sleep & snore and then the length of time you stop breathing/snoring. You'll start up with a "snort" and start snoring again. Any time you stop breathing for longer than 10 seconds. you are having an "event".

If you can't find someone willing to time you when THEY could be sleeping then get an old cassette tape recorder with a 2 for tape and record yourself. That could be scary.

I read that the "Pillow" sleep tracking app will record noises at night while you sleep, and you can listen to them later in order to see if you’ve been snoring or if it was the cat that woke you up. It is technically free, but it’s really not of much use without the $4.99 in-app purchase. Without that, you get a very limited sleep history.

There’s rumors about Apple including one in the next OS and watch. Whether or not it is only available on the next watch hardware or backwards compatible is unknown. I’ve been using SleepWatch and it’s pretty informative.

The rumour I read was that the feature would be limited to the AW6.
Truly disappointing if true.

Agreed. Knowing how this works, they’ll claim it needs new hardware and use it as a way to push people into upgrading/buying the newest model. I think additional battery life is necessary, but if someone has two watches, I can’t see why it wouldn’t work for them to use one for the sleep tracking and one for day time.

I use a Beurer under mattress sleep sensor that gives good results and displays on your phone.
circumvents watch charge alltogether and measures body movement, heartrate and breathrate to give together a very clear sleep picture.
I believe this is and always will be superior to whatever a AW will do on sleeptracking.

BTW i do own and always wear aw5 in bed

As an AW Series 4 watch owner I am not averse to upgrading every few years. The S5 offered the always on display..... not enough for me. Now if the S6 has the oximeter, better battery life and faster podcast downloads I will upgrade. If not, native sleep analysis is not enough for me.
