Why are all of OP's comments getting down liked? I don't get it. Poor guy/girl was just trying to ask a question.

Because most of the people on this site are extremely arrogant and not courteous to others who are just simply asking questions.

If I can make it work to my liking, I would love to use an iPhone. Someone named LTD was hyping about the 4S a few months ago and wanted to see if it's that great.

The most important unofficial rule of this forum is to either put *LTD* on your ignore list or laugh at everything he posts.

I've used both iOS and android extensively and there are pluses and minuses to both platforms. The iPhone looks great, has far better build quality than any android phone and iOS is very smooth. However, android is much more fully featured and I love the fact that I can replace pretty much everything as opposed to Apple's nonsensical and arrogant policies that make it impossible to replace the default email, browser and SMS apps. The app quality is much higher in iOS compared to android as well.

Really? Because I didnt see OP was trying to just ask questions. He was asking members here to beg and convince him to choose iPhone over Android. That's far away from merely ask for question or comparison.

It's not the first time I see threads about asking for convincing. Let's just say we're not in convincing people business, and not everyone feel suited with an iPhone. However most members here do, that's why we gather here and not on Android forum, huh?

So what if he wants people to convince him!!! If it bothers others than they simply shouldn't respond. I post on many forums and this one by far has the most selfish, conceded, and arrogant people on it. I don't know why. And I didn't interpret his orignal post as trying to be "convinced" to switch to the iPhone. He just wanted to know why people like the iPhone so much, to which I reasonably responded. Now if I didin't like this post or it somehow managed to bother me (which would be the day) then I WOULD NOT RESPOND.

Its actually quite easy and many posters on this forum should try it.

I just wanted to know up's and downs of iOS. Sorry for having an open mind. Will never ask for advice again!

Correct.

NO! Please don't give these ignorant people what they want. There are always a few willing to offer some good advice.

I say go iPhone. :D

iPhone is highly reliable, fast, smooth, user friendly, secure and long lasting. The ecosystem is great, you get great support, access to a myriad of great applications, and you become apart of a great community. Give iPhone a chance.

I've had a Droid Eris, Motorola Droid, and recently for Christmas I have received an iPhone 4.

I absolutely hated the Eris.. The slowness was unbearable even with different ROM's. I liked my Droid, but as I downloaded apps the phone started to slow down and I never got used to the keyboard.

My iPhone 4 is the best phone I have owned to date. I think what brought me over was the fact that I use iTunes so much to sync everything on my iPad, why not my phone? It just works for me

I love iOS and this is the first time I haven't felt the need to jailbreak it this far. I do miss my widgets on Android, but I can live without!

I say go iPhone and have your Thunderbolt as a backup phone, if you get bored.

I'll respond whenever I feel like it, thank you. I wasn't rude or impolite, nor was I selfish or arrogant. If someone has a legitimate question about the iPhone, I'd be more than happy to answer it. But saying, "Why should I switch to iPhone?" and stating that he/she has found Android to be "far superior" is asking for trouble. I don't want to get into the whole Android vs. iPhone thing yet again. There's been enough posts around here on that subject.

If you want to spend your time trying to convince someone to switch from a phone that they apparently love, go for it. For most people around here, I think they'd rather spend their time trying to actually help people or participating in worthwhile discussions (I know I would). If someone needs to be convinced to purchase something, whether it's an iPhone or an Android phone or a car, for that matter, then they probably shouldn't buy it.

You should really go to xda developers.

I stopped posting after a couple weeks there when i first got a Sony Arc. The most arrogant, elitist and angry group of geeks i have ever seen. Good thing Cyanogen and MIUI have their own websites for ROM business :)

most people that "hate" itunes or dont like buying apps and stuff more than 90% do NOT have a macbook or imac of some sort. If you like what you have then just keep it . Maybe try an iphone out for a while too. You never know. you might like it

iTunes has improved a lot since you last used it. I would try using it again and see how you get on. If you can't stand the latest iTunes then you probably won't get on too well with the iPhone.

Not too sure why everyone is negging your comments

I have an iPhone and I really, really like it. I feel dirty about that sometimes 'cus I tend to scorn things that are popular. But, man, it just works so nicely. I find it very user friendly and a very powerful tool.

iCloud sync is very handy (provided you use Safari, which I happen to): syncing bookmarks (including the Reading List) across multiple computers and your phone works well and quickly and I find handy. Contact and Calendar support and syncing across your phone, the Web app, and the Mac applications is also good and works quickly (usually within seconds if your device is Internet connected).
Those are examples, though, that are only useful if you use other Apple products.

Aside from that, iTunes integration is handy. I neither love nor hate iTunes. It works for what I need it to do: minimally manage my music and Podcast library. I have all my music and the oldest unheard 10 podcasts on my phone. And all playlists are synced. I can manage the organization of my phone apps in iTunes, which can be handy. I don't buy music, so I don't care about that, but the management works well enough.

The integration across apps on the phone. I'm reading an e-mail and the word "tonight" is underlined. You can tap it and a new Calendar entry will come up. There's a phone number in the same e-mail--tap and hold to create a new contact entry or add the phone number to and existing contact. Tap on a phone number in a web page and dial it or create new or add to a contact.

It's things like that across the phone that just make it so pleasant to use. It works well, quickly, and doesn't crash.

Is it perfect? Far from it. The Reminders app has about 25% of the features it should have. I can't send an e-mail to a group and I can't change what container a contact record is in. Really, Apple?

But overall, it's a pleasure to use and looks nice while doing it. The integration is very handy I find, but worthless if you want to avoid iTunes like the plague and any other Apple products. That's fine, too.
The iPhone works really well for me and those are some of the reasons I really enjoy using it. And find that I don't have to struggle to achieve what I believe to be a high level of functionality and integration.

Ever heard of/read "The Paradox of Choice"? More choices rarely makes us happier people. Yes, sometimes the lack of choice is a little annoying, but then I don't spend hours customizing every little thing. Instead I'm managing To Do lists and writing e-mails for work and personal and connecting on facebook and managing my money and finding hotels on New Year's Eve and directions.

All the best on your phone choosing.

Cheers.

+1

il say simply what the apple advert says...

""if you dont have an iphone...well you dont have an iphone"

if that doesn't convince you then i dont know what will... in my experience iphone just works, and its the going rage.. camera is decent (4s) audio quality is good with some decent headphones, battery lasts me all day (some users may differ) screen is crisp, and then the biggest selling point for me is the appstore, i mean i have used an android and blackberry os but apples appstore is by far superior..

and i have a mbp so i like to keep the technology stream going..

Like I said in my previous post, its how others interpret the message. I interpreted as he was just asking a question and wanted some sincere opinons on the matter.

Oh and most people on here DO NOT ENJOY participating in "worthwhile discussions." Just look around and in every post asking a question you will see a couple people reply with a "PERIOD" or something extremely rude and or sarcastic. Obviously just to up their post count.

I'm not saying YOU WERE RUDE but that tends to be the theme around here. Obviously because of the activity on this particular forum. I wish this site has the same rules and moderators that smartphone experts has.

Yes, I'm quite aware of how rude they are over there too.

I had the same issue... Have had a Samsung Mesmerize for the past year, and before that an HTC Pro Touch II that had Windows Mobile on it (YUCK)...

My wife wanted an iPhone and in order to that I had to switch to Verizon. And that begged the question, do I go RAZR, Nexus, or iPhone? Perhaps it was the phone that I had, but I had to keep pulling the battery a few times a week because the Samsung would become non-responsive. That was reason enough for me to switch.

I was worried about losing the Droid's turn by turn built in navigation, which has saved me more than I care to report. $1 buys me an app that works well.

At the end of the day it was just a phone, and the $200 difference between the RAZR and Nexus compared to the $99 iPhone 4, not the s, seems to be the final determining factor. I could save that $200 and put towards my future MBP. I never really used the widgets in Droid, or customized a whole lot...

Since I have been using the iPhone for the past 2 weeks, I have really gotten fond of the interface... I was disappointed with the few choices of non-musical ringtones that come preloaded. It is extremely fast at switching to what I really use the phone for. Granted the screen size is a bit smaller, but at the same time, I dont watch movies on my phone...I have my iPad 2 for that. And the restrictions of 8GB of space is no biggie for me, since my Droid only had 2 GB worth of data on it after a year... iCloud is awesome and iTunes syncing up my music and whatnot from my iMac is awesome.

Take a chance, get the iPhone...you truly won't know what you will like until you own it.

I hated on the iPhone for years, and finally got fed up with my Craptivate, and switched to the 4S. Part of it was just waiting for Apple to finally make a complete piece of software with notifications, cut and paste, multitasking, etc, and offer 64GB of storage.

I love it, especially the smoothness of the overall UI, and the UX that gives. Also, the app selection is incredible, and most of the apps are really good. Android has more free apps, but they are more hit or miss, in my experience.

If you want 4G LTE, or you want more customizability, or don't want anything to do with the Apple ecosystem, then don't buy an iPhone. It was a good choice for me, as I was already ann AT&T and iTunes/iPod customer for many years, so I put all that into one really slick device. I won't however, recommend an iPhone to anyone who isn't already invested in the iTunes ecosystem, and I have a hard time recommending on Verizon at all, due to their sluggish EVDO network.

Why are all of OP's comments getting down liked? I don't get it. Poor guy/girl was just trying to ask a question.
It's a highly subjective question asked all the time and the people asking it never provide the information needed (info on the OP as that's what subjective refers to) for others to make a meaningful recommendation.

No one can tell anyone else why they should or shouldn't choose any option. It's a lazy question and no one appreciates "convince me" threads. There is no such thing as a universal list of pros and cons. If we all had the same notion of pros and cons and the same preferences then we'd all use the exact same device.

I just wanted to know up's and downs of iOS. Sorry for having an open mind.
The ups and downs are always highly subjective, regardless of topic. If you want recommendations then you need to clearly spell out your specific needs/wants. Polling others on why they like or dislike a given option is pointless unless those people have identical needs/wants.

The responses you get will vary in quality along with the quality of your question. Your intent may have been good but you really need to rephrase and flesh out your question so we know more about you. We're not psychic. We only know what you're willing to share with us.

If someone has a legitimate question about the iPhone, I'd be more than happy to answer it. But saying, "Why should I switch to iPhone?" and stating that he/she has found Android to be "far superior" is asking for trouble. ^ This. Questions posed like the OP did in this thread are nothing but fanboy bait and do not spark meaningful discussions.

Maybe try an iphone out for a while too.
Always a good recommendation. For assessing options, nothing beats first hand, real world, day to day experience.

Lol wish I would have seen this thread when it was first posted. My question(as a former tBolt owner) is this, how is that 2-3 hours battery life treating you? I LOVE LOVE LOVE LTE but if ur battery can't make it from the time u leave for work til lunch then I don't want it. The thunderbolt was notorious for EXACTLY that.

The OPs question is, in my opinion, ridiculous. Why go to a forum like this and solicit advice like this? Clamoring for attention? I don't know. These threads bother me most. Consensus from biased strangers? Absurd. Buy what you like. Don't attempt to solicit a group identity. I thought Facebook put an end to that. Sorry, but there's much too much of this.

Buy what you like, what takes care of your needs. "Why should I (do whatever)"...no-one cares what you do. Only you should.

^ agreed completely. If I am wondering on whether or not I should buy something I promise the last place I'll check is a forum online....that's all.

Oh, and how easy are the Droids and HTCs and Samsungs to use with one hand? An iPhone is very easy to use with one hand.

Written on my iPhone with one hand...
