Bought a M1 Mini about two years ago and it had bluetooth issue. Bought a M2 Mini and it had audio issue. Bought a M2 Pro Mini and it has WiFi issue. Why the Mini always have issues? From the internet, many people have such individual issues.

Why the Silicon Mac Mini always have issues? Did not buy any previous generation Mini so I don’t know if they are better.

I recall people finding that BT module was near the WiFi module and they interfered with each other. So Apple did not redesign and just replaced M1 with M2?

How about Mac Studio?

The only new Mac I have ever purchased and returned was the first generation Intel Mac Mini, due to the Bluetooth and Wifi issues.

I don't use any Bluetooth devices anymore, but I own the M1 MM and M2 Pro MM, and have not had any issues at all with either.

no bluetooth (or other particular) issues with my M2 mini. i have it connected thru BT to a satechi keyboard, apple mouse, cme x-key air (music keyboard), and some other peripherals (headphones, speaker).

sorry, tho, that the OP has had such odd luck... 🤔

Yes, bluetooth issue has solved but not wifi issue.

What is your configuration on M2 Pro MM? I wonder if certain configurations (e.g. those with 10GbE upgrade) have the issue.

12c CPU, 19c GPU, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD.

I was going through get the 10GbE for if/when I finally replace my five 6th gen AirPort Extremes with a newer system, but after reading about all the issues with Apple's 10GbE poet on 1Gbps networks, I decided not to get it.

I do not have anything Bluetooth anymore, but am currently using Wifi without issues.

i have a M2 and M2 pro Mac mini I also sell and make support for costumers and they have tons of Mac mini, 0 issue here. So don't make your experience like it is always like that. There were BT issue with software at M1 launch but they fixed it, sure there is not stellar BT antenna in M1 Mac mini but nothing flawed.

one thought: what peripherals? ie which ones had BT issues, what audio device had an issue, what router? might help to know more about what you're experiencing...

Mac mini M1 base. No issues. Apple Magic Keyboard and mouse, wifi active. All working well.

I always use wired Ethernet on desktops and had no problems with my M1 mini or Studio. This appears to be a weak spot on desktops with aluminum cases.

The problem is the design. With the metal case, the radio waves can only travel through the back or the bottom plastic coverings. The bottom usually is blocked by the table, so that leaves the back, but most of the time people place the back at… the back, furthest away from the front where they have their mouse and keyboard. Add on the typical interference on 2.4GHz freq (which both BT and WiFi use), it spells trouble. Easiest workaround is to force the WiFi on 5GHz (by explicitly create a 5GHz only SSID on your WiFi router).

This happens on my 2012 intel Mac mini. When the WiFi is on 2.4GHz, both it and Bluetooth are in chaos. This was made worse with Apple consistently preferring 2.4GHz WiFi while my Android and Windows devices easily prefers 5GHz. Switching WiFi to specifically 5GHz fixed things.

I only had BT keyboard problem with M1 Mini which I returned. The one I am having issue with Wifi is M2 Pro Mini with 10GbE. I cannot separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz from the old router provided by my ISP. I don’t think it is a router problem because I had a M2 base model Mini connected to the same router without issue. It had audio issue as I posted before.

Apple must have made some changes as both M2 and M2 Pro Mini have no BT issue.

I think some users got 2.4GHz rather than 5GHz working.

If this is indeed the case, turn off WiFi and use ethernet?

USB 3.0 also interferes with both WiFi and bluetooth if you have anything connected to those ports. This isn't Apple's fault though, I have the same issue on my PC and had to buy a USB extension cable to resolve my bluetooth and wireless mouse issues.

You can also buy an external bluetooth adapter, the TP-Link UB500A is usually about £10 or so. Yes, you shouldn't have to buy extras like this, but I've also yet to use a PC that doesn't have the exact same issues when it comes to inbluilt wifi/BT. The only exception would be higher end motherboards that come packaged with external antennas.

Because there are the vent holes along the hinge.
The antennas are located at the top of the screen, so that they aren't completely encased by metal.

For the mac mini, the antennas are right under the large plastic cutout, but as others have explained the issue is with interference of the components not the case.

FWIW I've never had these issues with any of my Mini's on WiFi, but I haven't used bluetooth concurrently with it.

The antenna of most MacBooks are near the hinge

If it is design of the mini, why some users have no issue with wifi?

i would counter that most mini users just use their macs, with bluetooth keyboards & mice, and wifi... and that just some people are having issues. those issues are of course worth exploring.

where possible, one can always call apple for support
