I called Apple. It is no use. They took all sort of info and denied the Mini has any issue. She said that she has not heard any problem. I just told her to check macrumors forum and Apple forum. Then she told me that M2 series Mini is new and she has not heard any problem. Then she tried to arrange for a return and told me to just buy something else!

call again; that is not typical (or reasonable) support. get help with your specific issue(s), apple can (and usually does) step up to the plate.

If it is design of the mini, why some users have no issue with wifi?

No idea, my wifi has been perfect although my mini is probably 6 feet from the wifi router. My Bluetooth reception becomes unusable if I use all the USB ports on the mini. It's sporadically bad with 1 USB-C device plugged in.

Somewhere I read similar issue although the first mini I got had no such usb related issue.

This is really concerning, ie the attitude of current Apple's support. They all go snob and it's always the user "using it wrong." Always denial in anything until there's a class action.

i've never had a bad experience with apple support, i don't think that's representative at all (altho i'll agree that, probably in most cases, the user is 'using it wrong') 🤣

We only need to look into posts and user experiences over the last few years to know bluetooth quality is dire on the mac mini. "It works on my machine" isn't too helpful, and there's going to be little troubleshooting to be done in this case.

Bought a M1 Mini about two years ago and it had bluetooth issue. Bought a M2 Mini and it had audio issue. Bought a M2 Pro Mini and it has WiFi issue. Why the Mini always have issues? From the internet, many people have such individual issues.

Why the Silicon Mac Mini always have issues? Did not buy any previous generation Mini so I don’t know if they are better.
It is better to have it upside-down.

I also install my M1 mini upside-down. I use a specialized Mac Mini mounting bracket to mount it below my wooden desk, upside-down due to the way the bracket is made. I've never experienced Bluetooth issues with my Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and 2.1 Edifier Bluetooth speaker.

No BT or wifi issues with my M2 Mac mini. Logitech G604 mouse, Apple Magic Keyboard with numpad, and Magic Trackpad all connected by BT and working great. Wifi connected to my Orbi at 866Mbps, which is the fastest my Orbi can do.

if you look thru posts on these forums, every mac, every OS has reports of issues. but what percentage of mac mini owners worldwide have bluetooth issues? (i'm guessing it's tiny, but to be fair, that's just a guess).

people who don't have BT issues don't start threads like "bluetooth is great on my new mini'; they're just using their macs. and millions of mac users don't live on the macrumors forums, and (most of them) are also... just using their macs.

if you have a problem (ie BT on a mini), come here for help; go to an apple store. or call apple. and get it resolved, since... many of us are using BT without issue on our minis... which suggests that it can, in fact, work well... 👍

The only new Mac I have ever purchased and returned was the first generation Intel Mac Mini, due to the Bluetooth and Wifi issues.

I don't use any Bluetooth devices anymore, but I own the M1 MM and M2 Pro MM, and have not had any issues at all with either.
so you don't use wireless mouse or wilress keyboard?

Just to clarify: I only have BT issue with M1 Mini only. BT on both M2 and M2 Pro Mini are working fine.

Called Apple the second time. They just asked me if I have the latest MacOS and whether or not I had rebooted the router. They did not even bother to remote login to my computer to check. Again, they have no idea what is going on and denied any known issue. I am not going to call them again.

i've always had polite, helpful support from apple, and they've always screen-shared when needed. hope it goes better for you next try!

On almost everyone of my daily used Macs, I use old wired USB Apple keyboards, and wireless mouse, but not Bluetooth.

I think every wireless mouse I current use are Logitech, they have a USB transmitter for the wireless.

I received my mini M2 Pro last week. Everything is working great until now (after less than a week), except the Apple Bluetooth mouse which frequently loses some clicks. The cursor motion on the screen is usually correct, but some clicks don't get to the computer. I don't know yet if it's the OS (Ventura), the mouse itself, the BT signal, or even an influence from the all-aluminium mousepad I'm using.

The Apple TouchID Bluetooth keyboard is working great until now, though. No keyclicks are lost from the BT signal.

Is there an app or a way to measure the quality of the BT signal?

the mouse tracks well on the aluminum?? hmm.

anyway, try changing some of the mouse settings (ie tracking speed) in system settings. and try rebooting. no reason the "BT signal" should be compromised (but how far are you from the mini? and is it in an enclosure/under the desk/in a locked safe?) 😉....

I should have been more precise on this: The mini is straight on the desk, in front of me, at less than three feet from the mouse. The BT keyboard (which works great) is under the desk, on a tablet. The desk itself if made of very thick and dense wood. Despite of this, the BT signal is working great with the keyboard (no keyclick is lost).

Yes, the mouse is on an aluminium pad (like the Satechi aluminium pad. See below). It's supposed to help (?) to get a better signal, by reflexion. Not sure this is right.

EDIT: Maybe my double-clicks are too fast. I usually lose a click when I double-click. There doesn't seem to be a preference setting about this, in the mouse "settings" pane.

ok. did you try changing settings for the mouse? and/or rebooting? no issues here with my apple mouse & my m2pro mini... (or for that matter, my satechi BT keyboard)...

I did rebooted once, and there's no difference. AFAIK, the mouse settings in Ventura doesn't allow the double-click speed.

and changing the tracking speed didn't help? i've always had an apple mouse (imac before this mini), and never had issues with it... and none now...

EDIT: you can always call apple if you think something's not working right...

Sorry for your experience :( For the record, my new M2 Pro (16/512) has no BT (or wi-fi) issues so far, though I've only had it for two days. I have a Logitech MX Keys Mini, Logitech M720 mouse, and JBL BT headphones all connected, with the keyboard and mouse connected all day. Have to say I really enjoy the MX Mini keyboard; there's no lag when waking the mini at all. It's pricey but well worth it imo.

I'm not sure what's the cause of my lost clicks. I'll have to do more tests and experiments. Maybe the aluminium mousepad isn't ideal (while it's so nice to the look and the feel is so smooth). Maybe it's just a setting to change. I'm very fast at double-clicking.

i'm so fast at double-clicking that my mouse smokes a bit each time.

it seems those mouse pads should be extremely responsive; but no harm trying without it (at least as a test).

my suggestion about the tracking speed is... it's something you can change (you can even put it back to where it was), but just to see if changing something affects the mouse's behavior in any way...

The lost mouse clicks are the only "serious" issue I'm experiencing with my new mini, until now (not counting some small aesthetical glitches/bugs with Ventura). The BT Apple mouse is clearly a problem to play some multiplayer games (I can't survive much, in Quake3, using my Magic Mouse with the lost clicks!)

I'll update Ventura to 13.3 and install the ASD display firmware tonight, and then some more serious issues may begin...
